Up for bid is this very early. Very heavy cast iron signal case made by Union Switch& Signal Co. It measures 29 inches wide, 16 inches deep not including the thickness of the door or the cast iron base. Cast iron base is 22 inches deep at the bottom. The whole thing is about 42 inches tall. Very heavy. The paint is all alligatored. But the metal underneath is in fine shape. It has one dent on the back right side that is hard to photograph. It is shown in the next to last picture. It is beautifully cast at the top with T U S& S Co. And Swissvale PA under that. It also has a really cool builders plate on the door. Very decorative, see pics. The inside is wood lined. It still has stuff in there. I know very little about electrical work, so see the pics. Looks like maybe a power supply and terminal strips. This stuff may be very useful, ... moreI don't even know what it is. This was used on he C&O in the mountains of Virginia. This is a switch controller. Hook up your Disco Ball, Lighting, etc. to an 8 AC Channel power strip. If you flick a swich to on, unit connected to that number plug will turn on/illuminate. Keep green switch in off position, and you can control the power of your lighting accessory by pressing the green push buttons. For example, if you have a lighting unit plugged into ac plug#1, just press the green push button up and down and your lighting unit will turn on and off at your command. Or you can just press the green rocker switch and unit will turn on. This unit is used to control multiple lighting effects, is excellent for parties, nightclubs etc. Note: The green rocker buttons light up when turned on, i noticed that some of those lights on rocker switch don't light up. There are no cracks or chips in the bakelite or glass panels and the relay is rated at 250 ohms. This also comes with a plug coupler. Which in itself is a cool find for one of these large relays. Here we have a used Union Switch& Signal SV30 Slow Release Vane Relay. This 110 VAC. 60 cycle relay has been tested and works good. There are no cracks or chips in the ceramic top or glass panels. There are some minor scratches on the paint and a slight hint of rust around the bottom of the cast frame here and there. The interior of the relay is in very good condition and is nice and clean looking. This was last serviced and repaired by the railroad on 5-19-88. These units were removed from service years ago. Its all done by CPUs now. These UNION switch code units lived on the old C&O possibly from the 1940s until the 1990s. You are buying 2 FIELD STORAGE UNITS. 1 CENTRALIZED TRAFFIC CONTROL SYSTEM UNIT, 1 FIELD CODING UNIT, AND 1 CODE CONTROL UNIT. Plus 2 smaller open relay units and some test cables. All vintage railroad items. This stuff is seldom out there to simply but and own. It is unfortunate the control wires were simply cut when they were retired. It is what it is. They are very heavy so I am putting them local pickup. I will help in any way to get them to an interested party but I do not want to package them to ship. Up for bids is one FN16A crossing flasher relay. Made by Union Switch and Signal, which was a Division of WABCO. The relay works great, I tested it but never had it installed in my collection. I bought this from Jeff Seidel a couple of years ago, he had removed the rectifier from it as it was bad, it works perfect without anyway, so I never replaced it.It has a perfect glass bowl. Jeff recently passed away and I hate to get rid of this piece, but Im unemployed as of right now, so the money could be better used.
