However the Iron is quite pitted and rusty. It would have been once plated in Nickel and there are some very small areas that show it once was. There is no makers name or mark that we can find. The Brass ring at the handle base is cracked. Other than that there is no other damage. The history( unfortunately word of mouth only) of this Corkscrew is that it came from a Saloon in the ghost town of Monte Cristo on the Pacific Northwest. Vintage Strombecker Slot Car Mechanical Lap Counter in Box WORKS Japan #33095
This auction is for a vintage slot car mechanical lap counter(33095) made by Strombecker in Japan. Probably circa 1960s. Lap counter comes in original box with instruction sheet. The lap counter will count each time the car passes the spring wire actuator. The spring wire actuator is bent so that it will pass smoothly over the slot and snap back without getting caught in the slot or on the car. One side is MISSING the wire actuator. The other side is just fine, and both sides still function mechanically- the wire on the one side will just need replaced by taking out the screw and putting another small wire in. An antique industrial machine mounted. Gear or sprocket driven mechanical counter. Manufactured by the Veeder Co. of Conn. and patented 1895. Not certain what the device was mounted on to count units produced, rpms or other production information. The units, etc are recorded on rolling number wheels and reset back to zero when desired by rewinding to zero. This is a small vintage mechanical counter with a 3 in. sprocket drive which could be changed to adapt to various desired applications and counts.
