This is one of 2 antique counters available for sale in a 1853 store building located in Altona. Illinois 61414 on U.S. hywy#34 between the Quad Cities and Peoria, Illinois. The counter has a refinished old walnut top that was lovingly restored by the previous owners of the antique shop. Size of the LONGER one at the middle of the shop is: 32 in. height by 18 feet long by 34 in. in depth by the walnut top dimensions. The Base is on a black painted molding with elaborate molding from the black base up to the beautiful walnut top with an antique finish as mentioned above! You will love the molding and the seller hopes to add pictures of this counter and the other SHORTER(11 ft. one soon. Presently the counters are covered with antiques. Display cases, etc. so these items would have to be moved first. There are also a line of antique reed organs ... morein front of both counters. There is one long shelf on this counter for storage. Antique General Store Counter Tole Tin Litho Tea Bin Dispenser Bin Girl & Kitten
Here is a great estate sale find! It's an old tin tea bin or dispenser that would have sat on a counter in a General Store way back when! Probably from the late 1800s or around the turn of the century. I don't know much about these type of items. It has its problems as mentioned in the"Condition description" above but still has fabulous stenciled graphics including a cute young girl watching her kitten drink milk. So charming! The top hinged lid contains a revolving cylinder which has different types of teas stenciled on it. The one currently shown is"Gun Powder" There is also Japan. E. Breakfast(English Breakfast) Succhong, and another which is pretty scratched out so I can't read it. I left the window open to"Gun Powder" because the cylinder is dented and doesn't roll smoothly around. I don't ... morewant to scratch the graphics and more than they are. You can see the lid has a broken hinge and is dented so it doesn't sit squarely on the bin. The small door at the bottom is missing its knob and also has a dent. You can see all the scratches and wear from the photos but the graphics are still very good! I haven't seen another with a girl and kitten. This is a really great 8 drawer quartersawn oak store or apothecary cabinet. 8 drawers on one side and two sliding doors on the other. Would make a wonderful island for your kitchen or sewing room or? Reminds me of the bean seed counters from the same time period. We have refinished this piece and it is in excellent condition with a smooth and even finish. Overall size of the piece is 68 long. 27 wide, and 34 high. The interior of the drawers are 13.5 wide, 11 deep, and 9.5 high. Note the paneled sides and sliding doors. The door interiors have adjustable shelves. Antique 1800's Drug Store Candy Counter Pharmacy Apothecary Jar
A very nice. Crystal clear drugstore apothecary jar. These jars were often used for candy display but had other uses in a drug store. This particular one is 12" tall with a diameter of 4 1/2" The bottom has a large pontil(see photo) There are numerous seed bubbles in the glass along with a few potstones which are usual in this early blown glass. You can also see these in the photos. The cover and the inside of the top of the jar are ground for a perfect fit. All around nice shape. This particular jar came from the basement of the Oakes Drug Store in Oakes, North Dakota. The store had been closed for years and the contents were sold out at a small sale. This is an Antique cast iron and wood fixture. It was used for dispensing and cutting paper used typically by a butcher. Deli, or fish market. It says Rex 15 on it seen in photos. It measures approx. 18" o.d. across at leg base, and 19-1/2" across at wood top. It stands approx. 11-1/2" high. One of the legs has been repaired at the base seen in photos. There is no reserve on this great old general store tin bin or caddy. We are pleased offer this lovely antique tin bin. Probably used in a general store in the late 19 th C. It is in very good overall condition with very little rust. The paint on the front has been touched up long before we acquired it. But fortunately nothing has been done to the lovely young woman who forms the cameo in the center. The gold and black has pretty much been completely done over, but it may have been a long time ago as there are some dings in the paint. The hinges have a really old solder repair which might indicate these are old“fixes. These were pretty valuable pieces to the store keeper and he wouldn’t have wanted them to look too worn. Original, Beech-Nut Brand Stick Gum and Beechies Candy Coated Chewing Gum Tin Store Counter Retail Sales Display bin manufactured by the Advance Display Co. Chicago. The top shelf held Peppermint and Spearmint gum stick 5-packs. The bottom shelf held Beechies Candy Coated Chewing Gum multi-packs in Peppermint, Pepsin, and Spearmint flavors. There is a metal'clip' across the back top edge that held an additional cardboard/poster board promotional advertising piece. Its dimensions are: 12 1/2"W x 8 3/4"H x 8 1/2"D. The colors and gum decals are in great shape. But there are two noticeable areas where the paint has worn down to bare metal: one on the top edge in the Peppermint Gum section, and the other on the opposite rear backside mid.
