In fantastic condition and 100% original. Original red metal lid in very good condition with no damage. Rust, etc. Lid stamped inside Lance. The octagonal glass jar measures 12 1/2" high and is in excellent condition with no chips. Cracks, scratches or other damage. Base is stamped Lance as seen in pic. This cardboard box held peanut butter sandwich cookies made by the Independent Baking Company. It comes with a metal and glass lid labeled with embossed lettering"Protection Brand Biscuits. I believe these were used by retailers to display their product on the store's counter. The lid is hinged for easy access. The patent date on the lid is April 16. 1924 and marked Tindeco underneath. Both box and lid are in good condition with no breaks or cracks to the lid and just minor damage to one corner of the box. On the bottom of the box there is a stamp that reads For Victory Buy United States War Bonds And Stamps with the image of a soldier. This is a door or lid for a counter top display in a bakery. This lid or door would be placed on a metal or plastic box and would hold a different variety of cookie- you could open the door and serve yourself to them. It is plastic with glass in the door and is marked in blue with"Lenell Bros. Baking Co. Inc. It measures approximately 10 3/8" square and is in excellent condition. Famous for its buttery assortment of cookies like Pinwheels and Butterscotch Stars, Lenell Cookies have been beloved by Chicagoans for nearly 75 years. Antique large primitive store counter candy jar. It has a slant front and rounded back end. Sides. Top, and bottom have flat stops. It is 11" deep x 7-1/2" tall x 6" wide. It has many inperfections in the glass, ie, bubbles, wavy stops as old glass often has. It is a heavy thick glass. The rubber gasket to the lid is gone, if it ever had one. It is in very good antique condition no cracks, or chips that I could see, but there is some use rubbing and scratches which only add to its character.
