VINTAGE BENTWOOD FOOTSTOOL THONET JACOB JOSEF KOHN STYLE SHOE STORE STOOL
You are bidding on a vintage bentwood footstool or shoe salesman's stool. A footstool such as this is illustrated in a 1926 product catalog from Jacob& Josef Kohn. I have seen a couple of other stools like this attributed to Jacob& Josef Kohn. But as the stool has no markings I can't be positive of the maker. Their early footstools like this had a wooden bar at the bottom whereas this one has a metal or chrome bar. The bentwood stool is made of a dark wood. Possibly walnut. The wooden top of the stool has a light padding and is covered in navy blue velvet. The oval bar at the bottom is made of a shiny metal that looks like chrome. Although the upholstery has some age and a bit of nap wear at the edges. I don't think it is the original material. I believe it may have been recovered at some point in time. The finish on the ... morewood bears the normal and expected faint surface marks from age and careful use. The metal bar does have some faint scratching and surface marks as seen in the last photo. The stool stands 12" in height and is 15 1/2" in length. The top is 5" at the widest point and the bottom is 9" at the widest point. This is a really lovely vintage bentwood footstool. Antique Folk Art Pin Cushion Wood Shoe Boot Beading Stick Pin Sewing Display
Up for auction is a wonderful antique high top shoe or boot made from wood and velvet. The shoe is painted a dark green color with splotches in silver and gold. The beading goes around the brown velvet and two red rhinestones down the center. Measurements: 5" long X 5" tall X 1-7/8" wide. Condition: There is minor flaking of paint. The velvet has wear and a small tear and is missing tiny amount of beading on one side(see pic with string) There is a 1-1/2" split in wood on side but is completely stable. Here is a vintage approx. 2 7/8" x 1 3/4" oval celluloid advertising pocket mirror. Gemstone and trait of the month border with brown background. I have only seen them listed with a black background! The center says: SMILE! Then start for"The Golden Shoe" Store. The celluloid shows aging but still looks to be in very good condition. The mirror glass is not chipped or cracked however it does have some black spots. The oval silvertone metal frame around the glass shows light tarnish.

Here is a Ludwigs VisuMeter. The back is marked LUDWIG'S CINTI. O. with a patent number and HDC inside of a hexagon. This is a measuring device that is inserted into the shoe. The arm is extended to fit the inside of the shoe. Then lock the arm in place, remove, and compare to the foot to determine how much room is inside the shoe. The scales are marked M and L which I assume is for Men and Ladies. Extended, this measures about 11 1/2" long. This is used. It has scratches and wear. Everything seems to work as it should. One is 15 1/2' tall at the back, the area the shoes sit on is 9" by 6 1/4" has a raised piece at the top back to hold the shoe on by the heels, it has a few of tiny, light rust spots on the top right edge& some bubbly surface rust spots at the lower right corner area where the shoes go, but easily sanded& repainted, they need a new coat of paint anyway. The second one is 10 1/2" at the top back, is not angled as much as the other one, has a few very small& light surface rust spots, very minor.
