Antique Biscuit Bin Cracker & Cookies Box With Hinged Glass Lid Counter Display
This cardboard box held peanut butter sandwich cookies made by the Independent Baking Company. It comes with a metal and glass lid labeled with embossed lettering"Protection Brand Biscuits. I believe these were used by retailers to display their product on the store's counter. The lid is hinged for easy access. The patent date on the lid is April 16. 1924 and marked Tindeco underneath. Both box and lid are in good condition with no breaks or cracks to the lid and just minor damage to one corner of the box. On the bottom of the box there is a stamp that reads For Victory Buy United States War Bonds And Stamps with the image of a soldier. It is pretty amazing to me that these have held up so well over the years, especially the box. It measures 10 1/4" x 10 1/4" x 8" high with the lid on. A display rack such as this would have sat on the counter in a drug store or general store to advertise the fresh american candy Lifesavers. This piece is from my personal collection. The bars are in tact and the display is in amazing collectors condition for its age. Their are a fewminor surface scratches. I would rate it a 9 out of 10.
