The school was set up in 1883 by Hardwick Rawnsley and became a piece of history in the arts and crafts movement It is written that Hardwicks wife Edith would note criticising each piece of work of work deciding if it should be passed and have the school stamp. A superb original 1930s art deco nautical themed book trough/book rack measuring 14.5 inches long by 9.25 inches wide(foot width) and 8.25 inches high. The book trough has rounded ends made from oak with lovely inlaid cloudburst in satinwood with a galleon and crashing waves in relief in various woods and veneers. The shaped feet are in oak with a plain oak frieze to the front and raised oak edge to the back. There is a polished steel base with further polished steel stretcher to the rear. The trough has been used and does show some surface marks and scratches and some small additional pins for support have been added over time. Some marks and scratches to the steel in places. REVIEW FROM SOUNDONSOUND.COM ART's CS2 joins an already large number of compressor/limiters in the marketplace. And on the face of it, offers little or nothing that is new. It features dual-channel or stereo operation, hard or soft-knee compression and on-board gating to reduce noise, all familiar features, and if anything, it loses points because of the external wall-wart power supply. This being the case, you might be surprised to find that I actually like this little unit. Presented in a 1U rack case. The CS2 is remarkably conservative-looking for an ART product, with all the controls clearly marked and no'purple pizza' logos in sight. The rear-panel in an out jacks are balanced, ... morebut accept unbalanced cables; unlike some budget compressors, the CS2 has a detector loop insert point, allowing equalisers to be inserted into the side-chain for de-essing and so on. This is wired like a console insert point, so you'll need either a stereo-to-two-monos Y-lead or a patchbay to make use of it. The compressor interface is quite conventional. With Threshold, Slope, Attack, Release and Output Level controls for each channel, though why the term'Slope' has been used in place of the more familiar'Ratio' I don't know. GESCH backstamp on the base and D.R.G.M 237670 The pattern typifies the Jugendstil style of the Art Nouveau era. There are two brass pieces that protrude from the front piece for a pen to sit on. It appears that these have been replaced at some point. May be that a previous owner wanted a bigger penholder rest. This does not detract from the beauty of this piece and would adorn any desk. The front lifts up to reveal a three compartment stamp holder. It measures when folded down and not used with paper& envelopes in 9 X 6 ¾ inches at widest point. Great for a collector or to use. This vintage cast iron magazine rack is from a local estate. It has cast iron ends with a gazelle and flowers on both ends. The sides and bottom are made of flat steel which are painted black and have a Deco design painted in red. Brown and green. The cast iron ends both measure 9 5/8" wide and stand 14" tall, not including the twisted wrought iron handle. Overall length is 12" and overall height to top of handle is 16 1/2" There are no marks to indicated the manufacturer. CONDITION: As you can see in pic. This rack is in Very Good Condition! The finish is a coppery gold color. I do not know if the finish is original to the piece. But it is very old. I would say at the very least done within the past 50-60 years. Vintage Primitive Wooden Tumbler Tray Rack. Folk Art Country Kitchen
You are bidding on a vintage piece that I found in historic bucks county This appears to be a turn of the century hand made Tumbler tray. The tray has 8 slots for tumblers and two rounded or curved wooden handles. There are two wooden supports under the slots to hold the tumblers up. The wooden supports are old and nailed in with rusted nails that are a little loose. So I wouldn't recommend putting actual tumblers in the slots unless you reinforce the supports. The wood is a light wood.maybe pine? This would be a great project for someone that is into woodworking to refinish.
