The higher the pressure setting is set at will lower the overall drawdown capacity of the pressure tank will be. Failure to adjust the air charge properly can cause the following problems: Air Charge too Low: Pump will cycle frequently because the pump will come on before tank is drawn down. Air Charge too High: Tank will draw down completely and pressure will drop off before the pump kicks back on and in the case using this switch it will shut off the power because the switch is designed to cut off the power due to low pressure situations to protect the pump. If your switch is short cycling(rapidly turning on and off) it is probably due to the fact that your pressure tank is failed and is not a switch malfunction. Always check the air charge in the tank with a tire pressure gauge with the pump off and water pressure drained from the lines. I am not sure what brand or hp this motor and pump are. But it is a very heavy duty commercial unit designed to last in continuous duty for years! This is NOT a cheap Harbor Freight motor. I bought this unit years ago at a city auction and understand it works fine, but was replaced when the system was changed. There is a tag on it that says it was serviced by Cascade Electric Motor Service. Notice the heavy duty cooling fins, grease fittings, internal cooling fan, and cast iron pump housing. Sherwood G21 Water Cooling Pump
I dropped the price. I do not want this to go to salvage. The only problem with this water pump is that I cross threaded the mounting holes on the pulley assembly onto the engine. The impeller is good and the brass pump housing is good. I had to buy a whole new assembly as I did not have time to find a place to re-tap the mounting holes. I could not find just the pulley half! This is an easy fix and my loss is your gain as the old saying goes.
