Vintage Brass Water Meter Cap - Hersey - Dedham, MA - Converted to Container
Nifty old brass water meter cap that has been converted into a covered box by the Backwords Company of Missouri(tag attached) The cap measures roughly 1-1/4" tall. The lid is about 3" in diameter. While the base is roughly 2-7/8" in diameter. A metal plate has been added to the bottom and covered in green felt on both sides. The piece can now be used for display or to hold tiny treasures. The inside rim of the cap's base has a fabulous turquoise patina. There is also some surface rust. Both give evidence to the age of the item. The lid has the manufacturer's name, Hersey, as well as Dedham, Massachusetts. A real piece of history! Sale is final so please ask any questions you may have before you bid. Civil War Union Cap Box- Water Find- & Percussion Caps, Roundballs- Hopewell, VA
Dug in the vicinity of Hopewell. Virginia, this is the remains of a Union cap box, as well as two roundballs and a pair of percussion caps. The leather remains of the cap box, as well as the pair of roundballs, were found in the mud along the banks of the historic James River(thus the amazing state of preservation) Although the cap box is not complete, it still retains about three quarters of the leather as well as its' brass finial. The percussion caps were dug nearby, but on land. All of the relics are displayed in a small riker case on a red felt background. They would make an excellent addition to any collection.

An Antique 19th Century Solid Copper Foot Warmer DESCRIPTION An antique copper foot or bed warmer. A large round shape. This has a very decorative and heavy screw cap that is probably made of lead or pewter. The foot warmer measures 10-1/2" across and is 3" high- 6-1/2" high to top of extended handle. The body is made of solid copper, we have not polished it. A few little dents and dings but overall in very good condition. Cap screws on and off and tightens perfectly. Weighs 3 lbs. Vin tage Universal Cambridge Potteries Ivory Disk Water Pitcher Jug with Cap& Cork This fantastic water pitcher jug is in very good to excellent condition for its age. There is a lot of crazing to both pitcher and cap and a few kiln kisses(see photos 8. 10, 12) There are a couple of rough, discolored spots on cap(see photo 9)may just need a good washing-I didn't want to get cork wet. Cap has original cork which is in excellent condition. There is a spot on the lip of jug that looks like a crack, but I don't think it is-it looks more like a spot that didn't get glazed and then got discolored between the area of glazed and unglazed(see phot 7) For its age this is in very good to excellent condition; only real problem is glazing. From what my research has uncovered, I believe this was made by Universal Cambridge Potteries in ... morethe 1930's, but I could be wrong. There are no markings at all on the piece. I am guessing it was made as early as the 1930's and as late as the 1950's, but believe it is earlier than later. Pitcher measures approximately 7" across. 7" high, and 3" wide. Cap measures approximately 11/2" across at top, 2" across at widest point, 5/8" across bottom, 1 3/4" tall with cork, 3/4" tall without cork, and 6 3/4" around at widest point. I ship only to US and US Protectorates. Shipping will be based on calculator since there is quite a bit of price difference between west and east coast.
