MSA Hardhat..VIP NYPD World Trade Center Emergency. RARE~Hardhat made Sept 2001
You are buying an authentic MSA Hardhat made September 2001 which is stamped on the inside of the brim of hardhat and pictured in description. Stamped on the front of hardhat is VIP NYPD and on both sides of the hardhat is stamped WTC EMERGENCY. We contacted MSA hardhat company and they stated the month and date of the hat made is under the brim and looks like a dial. On this particular hat it is stamped 9/01. They stated that they do not have a record of this hardhat being stamped at their facility with the NYPD/WTC logo and they stated that it was probably ordered from their company and stamped elsewhere. This model is a V GUARD and Medium in size. The hardhat has overall scuffs and the lettering is in very good condition. We have not contacted any agencies in New York to inquire any further about this hat or the rarity.

Rio Grande Industries logo. Used 1948–1967. This is an older SUPERLITE FIBRE METAL Chester PA"TM" for trademark 1960's Safety Helmet with the above 1948 to 1967 Maine Line Thru The Rockies RIO GRANDE(Industries Logo) I suspected the helmet was from the 1960's based on the markings such as TM. Instead of R in a circle under the front bill and the Lack of UNION Made note on the inner front side paper label. I speculated that it was pre 1964 as there was no Zip Code on the paper label but in researching I saw no paper labels with a Zip code for Chester PA. As a result I went to the Rio Grande history site and determined that the Logo on the helmet was used only up to 1967. This generally confirms my thought that the helmet is from the 1960's likely from between 1963 and 1967. This is my best estimate) As to condition the ... morehelmet was purchased at a yard sale and I was told it was Grandpas and that he got it at his retirement party. I did not really know to ask when that was but the family selling the item was downsizing the estate and they were in their 50's to early 60's. Around 5 years ago) The condition is NEVER USED. Short of not having the box it could be called NEW OLD STOCK. I estimate it is between 48 and 52 years old. Note this again is my best estimate of age) The helmet is in 100% condition no major scratches scrapes or dents there is no soiling from use and the suspension system nylon cord is clean and bright. This Bullard hard hat is in very good condition and is still very clean and shiny. There are a few tiny spots but it shouldn’t be a deal breaker. The hatband inside will need replacing as the foam is toasted and crumbling. Any spots on the inside are just the foam dust. The spot on the back is just tape residue, the original suspension is fine, it has the old sticker and is a favorite of Ironworkers. Pictures don't do it justice. Questions welcome.
