I believe I have included ... moreenough photos for serious collectors to date it and to tell if this is one you want in your collection. It is certainly in nice condition and bears a lot of decals. I believe the clip on the front is to hold a Miners lamp and I am not sure what the purpose of the bottle attached on the back of the helmet is for but no doubt some kind of safety precaution or preparation. Also. there is a leather keeper strap on the back who's purpose I am unaware of but it looks to be a factory addition? The decals suggest it was used in either the oilfield or oilshale industry rather than mining but you can be the judge. No cracks or chips. The only thing I would mention is that the hardhat liner is missing the ear warmers that zip around and attach to it. The only evidence of use is slight scratches in the black paint on the bracket. Vintage Exxon Refinery Workers Safety Hard Hat. Multiple Decals, MSA, NR. This came from a local estate. The man had pride in his work. And kept his hard hat in a safe place many years after he'd retired. The decals include Exxon'87 Turnaround, the Baytown Lubes Project, and the Dimersol Project in Benicia California back in the mid 1980's. The hat shows some wear and tear, nothing bad, and is still in excellent shape! I used to have a 7 day return policy. This was not adequate for ebay. Who feels I either list items with a full TWO week return policy, or don't take returns at all. Ebay has been dictating how I should sell, quite a bit over the past few years. I'm hoping my past selling history will speak for itself, because I will no longer have a return policy. Vintage NASA Employee Hard Hat Helmet- Meatball logo- Pre-1975 Vintage NASA employee hard hat/helmet from before 1975. Has employee name(Ken Albert) and program on front in black marker. Unfortunately I cannot make out the program althoughthe letters"Mar VII" may refer to Mariner VII which was launched March 27. 1969 putting it in the right timeframe. That said, I really do not for sure which program whis was used for. As far as being from the pre-1975 timeframe. The NASA"meatball" insignia was used from 1959 to 1975 and from 1992 to the present. My belief that this hard hat is pre-1975 is that I also purchased a 35 year service award for the same gentleman which was dated December 31, 1977. The hard hat has an adjustable plastic ring inside that will change the hat size from 6 1/2 to 8 in 1/4 size increments. I don't know the age of this vintage hard hat. It is either fiberglass or thermoplastic.I suspect it is thermoplastic. The adjustable headband inside is all there. But in poor condition due to age. Article taken from Bullard website: The hard hat concept comes from Bullard. In 1968. The nationwide Bell System began transitioning from traditional OD Green vehicles and equipment to a brighter image featuring blue, gold and ochre on white. The new graphics were designed by a reputed designer of the day. Saul Bass. The hard hat featured here was manufactured in 1968 by the E.D. Bullard Co. of Sausalito, CA. It was the first model to sport the new colors. and its'egg' shape replaced the conventional safari, 360-brim hat in use since the 1940s. This hard hat as never been worn or been exposed to sunlight(UV rays) There are no blemishes of any kind. The headband is yet to be installed. Up for auction is a VINTAGE B. F. McDONALD ALUMINUM FULL BRIM HARD HAT. This hard hat is in good condition other than a couple of small dents at the very top. There is a label on the front with a woman's name and also engraved"MWK" The label is peeled up on the left side(looks like someone tried to remove it) And the blue from the label has transferred to the helmet as shown in photos. There are 2 small holes in the front as well that look like maybe they held a badge of some sort. The liner looks good, it has not pulled away from helmet and looks to be original but I am not sure. VINTAGE ILLINOIS BELL HARD HAT 1980's. OBVIOUSLY SATAN WORKED FOR THE PHONE COMPANY! Way back in the day I was standing on Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago waiting for a bus. A phone company truck whizzed past. Hit a pothole and this helmet fell off the back of the truck. The rest of the people at the bus stop just stood there looking at one another. The dolts. Here was a chance to get something from the phone company for FREE! Not only was I a man of action back then but I was also relatively sober at the time so I rose to the occasion, lept into action, dashed two lanes out into rush hour traffic and snagged the still-spinning helmet just before a bus came by that would have smashed it flat. Back up on the curb, I noticed the numbers across the front of the helmet. 666. Oh man! I'd always suspected that Illinois Bell was the ... moreDevil's work. Now I had PROOF! Anyway. The story is absolutely true and this hard hat is exactly the same as when I picked it up off Michigan Avenue all those years ago. Reflective tape, numbers, road rash and all. I believe I have included enough photos for serious collectors to date it and to tell if this is one you want in your collection. It is certainly in nice condition and bears a lot of decals. I believe the clip on the front is to hold a Miners lamp and I am not sure what the purpose of the bottle attached on the back of the helmet is for but no doubt some kind of safety precaution or preparation. Also. there is a leather keeper strap on the back who's purpose I am unaware of but it looks to be a factory addition? The decals suggest it was used in either the oilfield or oilshale industry rather than mining but you can be the judge. No cracks or chips. The only thing I would mention is that the hardhat liner is missing ... morethe ear warmers that zip around and attach to it.
