The conveyor is older and is more worn, but in good working condition. This Unit is known as a crash tabber; in which the edge of the piece to be tabbed is fed into the machine first. That edge contacts the tab which has fed down in front of the piece. Pulling the tab from its backing paper. She said all ... moreof theis equipment was installed in March of 2007. The person that was going to operate it was very reluctant to change. He did not want to use it and did not want to learn. The Pitney Bowes rep that came down to assist with start-up and show him the ropes on operating the machine. The rep said the man had no interest in listening and did care to learn about the system. The lady at college said of her worker and I quote, It was like trying to teach a caveman to launch a rocket" I laughed at that one! Based on what she told me. It was only used during the initial demo run and attempted to be used once more. Nothing wrong with the equipment, just the reluctant operator. The equipment is not hard to operate, the operator was just hardheaded and very slow learner. The equipment was put in storage in a climate controlled room for a few years and then the decision was made to move it to the colleges print shop. Right after moving it to the college print shop. The print shop manager left on a fairly long health leave. During that time additional print shop equipment(not mail related equipment) was purchased- offset presses and a large paper cutter.
