This auction is for a lot of about 240 vintage ol d style letterpress metal blocks. These are small to tiny. They range in from about 1/4" by 1/4" by 7/8" tall on the largest to about 1/4" by 1/8" by 7/8" tall. There are a few that are 1/16" wide( about the size of a pencil lead. There are only a few of these. There are about 4 blocks that look to be made out of an red plastic. These have numbers and are about 1/4" by 1/8" by nearly 3/8. We have not checked them to see if there is a complete alphabet. There appears to be a few different type fonts. Nice random lot of blocks with some letters that are pretty tiny. Vintage Antique Wooden Printer Drawer-Block Letterpress Type Set -E J Thompson
This is an old wooden drawer that held printer blocks. It has a metal handle and a metal strip on each side. I could not find any maker name but the metal strips on the sides say"Patent No. 2255949" I looked up the patent number and it shows an illustration of the drawer. It was filed June 24. 1941 by E.J. Thompson. The drawer is in good condition with no cracks that I can see. There is rust on the metal handle and ink stains on the wood from use. The drawer has 89 compartments and measures approximately 32" by 16 3/4" by 1 1/4" See pictures and email with any questions. Shipping is calculated based on your location.
