This auction is for a complete font of 8 line(1-1/3 inch tall) Antique vintage wood type for letterpress printing. Upper case& numbers. Capital"A" letters have Wm H Page& Co. stamped on them. This is a Serif face, with big squarish serifs. Font consists of a complete alphabet, lots of punctuation, ampersand, dollar sign, and numbers. 94 total wooden type pieces included. Another find of rare civil war era letter press type. Also a great size at 2 1/2 inches. Marked Wm. H. Page& Co. Greenville CT. This mark was used by Wm Page from 1859 to 1870. 45 pieces are offered and includes capital letters. Missing B. G, M, N, X. I placed a W in the M spot! Please check photos for condition. There is a crack in one H. Several letters are kerned with no damage to type face. A few letters with excessive ink on but not on type face. I attempted to identify the exact font by reviewing an 1878 Wm Page catalog; closest match was on page 17- an Aetna Extra Condensed font; only k, i, s were available for match of font. At auction are five vintage printer's type storage trays. All wood with labels. They are very old(early 1900's) and have been in a drawer in an old print shop. Show some wear but in good condition for age. Labels are worn. They say: 8 pt Garamond. Bold and Bold Italic; 12 pt Garamond, Bold and Italic; 12 pt Garamond, Roman and Italic; 18 Garamond, Light Face Italic; Garamond, and Bold Italic. The last one is missing copy. Antique Kelsey Letterpress acquired by a family member in the early 1950's. Based on research the approximate manufacture date is estimated to be in the 1920's. Counter included and 6 pounds of type. Includes two wood framed Font/Type Boxes. Wood cases state the font are 14 point script and 85-8 point. There appears to be three different sizes of letters. Counter included. Shows some rust. Here we have a set of wood letters made for printing. There are 87 upper case letters. 7 numbers and 7 punctuation marks- 101 blocks total. The Q is missing, there are multiples of all the other letters. Each block measures app. 1 1/4" high. The A blocks are marked Hamilton. A VINTAGE FRENCH TYPE TRAY made by the prestigious DEBERNY et C IE As can be seen from the photos. The partitions in this tray are rather different to those found in `English` type trays, presumably because the French language has so many accents and therefore requires extra storage spaces. For decorative purposes or for storage of collectables it certainly makes is `interesting`. The tray measures 25½ inches wide by 17¼ inches front to back(not including the handle) with a max height of 2 inches. 4 ANTIQUE LETTERPRESS VINTAGE PRINTER TYPE CASE HAMILTON TRAY DRAWER SHADOW BOX
Up for sale: Lot of 4 1907 Hamilton printers cases. These are some of the older cases on Ebay. We have several from the same unit and the bottom case handle is embossed with the date of 1907. This was back in the day of Teddy Roosevelt. When only 8% of population had phones, few had electricity, and few had cars. Average wage was 22 cents per hour and 95% of births were at home. The type used in these cases were just about the only way to communicate. Quite a different era. If these cases could only talk. We talk for them as they do make a good conversation piece. These cases are now being used for quite a variety of clever uses. All types of collections. Fly fishing flies, ammunition, thimbles, marbles, etc. One fellow we met placed a piece of glass on them and created beautiful coffee tables. Luckily this one survived for 100 years waiting ... morefor someone to put to good use. This is a very nice set of 2 typeset printers wooden tray or drawer. One has 33 slots and one has 25 slots. These are often used as shadow boxes and filled with trinkets. These do have some minor wear but it is not detracting and they have been used for their original intended purpose. That is what makes them great. Each tray measures approx. 32 1/4" long by 16 3/4" wide(17 5/8" to handle) and 1 3/8" tall. These trays were purchased from an old school auction and are in as found condition. Each tray may have some minor flaws from normal use and age but overall are in good shape. You will receive a random tray similar to the ones pictured. Letterpress printing press Craftsman Pilot C&P table top CHASE 6 1/2 x 10" type
Chase for a large table top printing press. I had several of these laying around. If I recall correctly I got them with a Craftsman brand table top press with a 6 1/2 x 10" printing area. They may also fit a C&P Pilot which is designed and made very similar to the Crafstman. I'll give you the chase dimensions so you can measure your particular press to see if it will fit. My chase does NOT have the little wedge protrusions on the side that are used to fit and mount some chases. My chase would nest into two feet at the lower section of the press and be secured with a movable spring loaded clamp at the top. DIMENSIONS are: 6 1/2 x 10 inside and the outside measures 7 7/8 x 11 3/8. Chase is in fine usable condition. It will hold metal or wood type. No damage or repairs. It lays flat.
