I bought this press in 1974 and it has had very little use in all the years I have owned it. It was used to print facsimile pages for rare books that were missing crucial pages. It is in good condition and good for another 100 years of continuous use. It looks like it still has the original paint and it glides like a dream. The No1. Vandercook Proof Press is in my opinion the best of all proofing presses because of its brand. Girth, simplicity and size. Most Vandercook presses are big and very heavy; this press is practical for a small print room or garage yet has the stuff that great presses are made of. In other words it is manageable. Yet has the ... moreweight, print area and girth to deliver a powerful print with relative ease. I think it weighs around 400lb, can be moved by two strong people. If you have ever dreamed of owning a printing press get the best because it simplifies the entire print process and will always deliver the finest results. Antique Redington Printing Press/Letterpress Counting Machine 1911
This is a counter that attached to an antique printing press. It was patented in 1911. It is in working order. The adjustment bolt for attaching it to the press is broken off and the end of it that is missing originally had a V-block for centering it. You can go online to see the patent papers and get the dimensions of the little v-block. The bolt can be made by anyone with machine shop experience or you can use a present day bolt with the same threads(it looks like 5/16" standard thread) There are instructions inside the cover for zeroing out the wheels( I have done this) The roller wheels at the end of the arm are free and working. All you need is a v-block and bolt to use this on your letterpress. It could use a paint job. It is 10" tall from the bottom of the roller wheels to the top of the cover.
