We were receiving an error code which we were told basically meant"the printer had run its lifetime" Unfortunately we were told this after purchasing a brand new motherboard for the unit. We have the original paperwork for the unit as well as service records. I am told there's a work around on the error message. No ink low lights are lit and the display says ready to print. As far as I know only the ink jets need to be cleaned for it to be in good working order again. The guy I bought it from told me that it just needed a right printhead and the matte black ink was empty. After I got it home and tried to get the print carriage to move to get to the printhead, with no luck, I called canon to get some assistance, they told me that the error code is most likely the printhead, but I would need a service tech to come out and install it due to the hardware error. I had to feed the paper in from the back to print them. But that's probably due to old paper, and likely easily fixed by running a cleaning sheet through the paper path. We no longer have the PC that connects to this printer, otherwise I would have gone online to troubleshoot.
