A really nice. Old corporate embossing sealer, as found, with its original paint mostly intact. Has to-be-expected signs of use and wear commensurate with its age. Note the makers hallmark: CHAS. H. COX. INDIANAPOLIS" Size is ~11.75" tall(including handle) and 7.25" long at the base. Still has original ornamental decor paint visible. Though really interesting and unusual as a style of sealer, the namesake of which the seal is marked is also quite interesting! A 20th CENTURY CAST IRON EMBOSSER This is a nice example of a vintage heavy cast iron embosser with a spring action handle. The makers label is present(see photo 2) but the full name cannot be fully read: Lewis. Coates? Ltd. Surrey St, Strand, London. The embosser stamp is as shown on photo 4; reads- Heathcote Productions Ltd(Newcastle Staffs) which is removable so other stamps can be used. The condition is is fine with no damage and it works well. But the paint finish is a bit distressed and the cord base is in poor condition, see photos. The top of the seal is oriented towards the outside of the page; for example, if you were to stamp your letter in the middle of the top of the page, the S would be right-side-up. Dimensions of the device are 3.5 X 2.25 X.75 and the stamped seal itself is five-eighths of an inch in diameter.
