Antique Vintage Cast Iron Odd Fellows Grand Lodge Seal Stamp Embosser w/ Horse
Here is a neat old embosser from the early 1900's. Not only is the intricate floral stencil interesting but so is the subject matter. As you can see in the last picture. The seal is clear and crisp and says"Grand Lodge K.E.P. and an image of a horse with what may be a knight in the saddle. A quick search on"Grand Lodge" and I found that this was in refernce to the old order of the Odd Fellows. Normal age wear on the original paint but over all really nice condition. The stenciling on the front indicates it was made by the Detroit Rubber Stamp Company. Of normal size, it measures about 6 1/4" long X about 2 1/4" wide X about 10 3/4" tall with the handle in the upright position. Found this at an auction so I don't know any history other than I Goggled Caledonian Motors and apparently there is a number of automotive dealerships located in England which have the same name. I do not know if the dealerships of today are related to whomever. This just seemed like an interesting piece for conversation for a desk or coffee table. It has a few little blemishes in the finish but they are minor and because it is black. Not really noticeable. There is some wear on the cloth on bottom. This is a nice piece of history.A notary from way back.50's at least? A little over 4 pounds all iron with a brass plate as the stamp. 10 inches tall 6 inches long with two holes to bolt it down. Stamp says notary public Montgomery county Guy T Kennedy.
