Not used much. Its been gathering dust from laying around& needs to be cleaned& oiled. Solid& sturdy in good working shape. The spool has old multi-colored braided line on it. The handle, spool, line guide turn smooth& freely. The clicker knob works. Nicely detailed with an engraved design on both side plates& on the handle. Vintage JC Higgins Fishing Reel 312.3184 w/ Engraved Plates& Cork Handle Caster Item Description: Vintage JC Higgins Casting Reel with Engraved Fishing Scene Includes Caster with Old Cork Covered Handle Model Nbr: 312.3184 This old ornately engraved casting reel has the J C Higgins signature engraved on the frame and the catalog number 312.3184 engraved beside it. The vintage reel features a finely detailed fishing scene engraved into both side plates. The heavy duty stub caster is approximately 9-1/2" long and is attached to the reel. But it is removable. The caster has a brass tone finish and a forefinger rest designed like a trigger. The original cork gripper is covering the handle, but part of the cork is broken off at the end The reel looks to be in good working order. It has been used and could use a good cleaning. But overall, ... moreit is in very good condition. All parts are working as they should and move freely. The original grayish green bakelite knobs are both intact, and there is a half empty spool of old fishing line left in it, which needs to be removed. The attached rod handle has a lot of little dings over the frame. In addition to the broken end of the cork handle. The side plates of the reel feature matched engraved fishing scenes. The top right of the scene shows two fisherman sitting in a boat. The bottom left side of the scene shows"the big one" being pulled out of the water. A fishing line stretches between the fish's mouth and the end of the fisherman's pole. Joining the two figures in the scene together. The ornate engraving also includes trees standing in the background and lines etched to look like reflections in the water. Sea plants are engraved into the scene forming the top of the lake and the plants also serve as a border for the bottom edge of the reel. An engraved garland of oak leaves wraps around the entire top third of the plate. Forming an ornate border around the design and framing the fishing scene. Mikebooks122 proudly presents a copy of a RARE. ORIGINAL, 1853 EDITION OF: The Adirondack; or Life in the Woods. It was authored by the illustrious J.T. Headley. Published by Baker and Scribner. In New York in 1853. Our research could find only one other available copy. Mr. Headley was born on the 30th of December. 1814, at Walton, in New York, where his father was settled as a clergyman. It is a wild and romantic spot on the banks of the Delaware, and his early familiarity with its scenery doubtless occasioned much of his love of mountain climbing, and indeed his descriptive power. He commenced his studies with the law in view. But changed his plan; and after graduating, at Union College, became a student of theology, at Auburn. He was licensed in New York, and a church was offered him in that city, but his health was feeble, and his physician ... moredissuaded him from attempting to preach. Unwilling, however, to abandon his profession without an effort, he took charge of a small church in Stockbridge, in Massachusetts, where he thought he could give himself the most favorable trial, but after two years and a half, broke down completely, and planned a European tour and residence for his recovery. There are over 80 copper plate stamped engraved maps that appear to be copper plate printed and hand colored. We believe this to be the sixth edition of this publication. Detailed portions of the multiple maps of the United States show a number of sections of the western portion of the U.S. as territories as many areas had not become states when this atlas was published. The condition of the maps portion of this atlas are quite good throughout with some foxxing(brown spotting) to the beginning and ending pages and limited amounts ... moreof foxxing in some interior pages. This leatherbound books front and rear heavy cover portions have broken free from the binding and will need a good book conservator to properly restore them. The binding and its limited gold leaf printing is also deteriorated and could use restoration. This is a great rarely seen edition of maps of the entire world as it was in the 1870's. Here is a great silver plate/plated pair of plates from the Wm Rogers company. One is a relish plate and comes with a glass dish that sits inside it. Has the mark on bottom of"Wm Rogers 811" on one plate but the other plates has no markings. It has a small sticker that can't be read. The plates are same. With the engraving, size and holes punched around the edges. They are 10.25" wide and 0.75" tall. One weighs 10.95ozs and the other weight 10.65ozs. They are old but I have no idea how old. The glass dish weighs 24 ozs. They are in great shape, no dings, some minor scratches on the surface. Both have 484 188 666 OK engraved on the bottom. Both are slotted around the edges. These 4 Staffordshire Alfred Meakin Hereford dinner plates are in good useable conditionand measure 10 inches in diameter. One has a chip on the bottom of the rim and that chip is 3/16 of an inch across as seen in the photo. The other things noted in the photos are glazing imperfections. These do show some table wear on the bottoms and have some knife marks on the food surface. The pattern is is in very good shape and appears very bright and without stains. The edges also show use. But overall are more than usable to complete or replace an existing set.
