Vintage Getzen Super Deluxe Copra Temp Bell Trumpet
Up for auction is an older Getzen Super Deluxe trumpet with a Copra Temp bell. The horn has been professionally cleaned/serviced and all slides/valves work fine. As you can see. The horn has a sort of ugly copper patch on the bottom side of the bell. It was put on to cover some cracking from some earlier dent repair.These Getzen Super deluxe trumpets have pretty thin bells that would dent fairly easy. It also does not have the original pinky ring on it. It was replaced by a round one. Other than that, the horn is pretty solid. It plays just fine(has a brighter tone to it) and the compression is really good on it. It will be shipped in an older zip up case, but does not come with a mouthpiece. Getzen Copra-Temp Valve and Slide Trombone. Reconditioned. Exceptional Player.
This is a Getzen valve-slide trombone combination with a Super Deluxe copper bell. I've always like the feel of Getzen's valve sections. But their yellow brass bells have never done much for me. I generally play an Olds valve trombone with a Recording bell(bronze) because I like the feedback and predictability I get from the bronze bell. I had access to a"Copra-Temp" bell which is copper with what Getzen calls a"tone ring" around the edge of the bell. I put the two together and the results were excellent. Generally. Smaller-bore valve trombones can be stuffy at low volumes and splattery when they get loud. A copper bell lessens both of those problems. It resonates well at low volumes and it can be played very loudly without overblowing it. The slide section has been re-aligned and works smoothly. The chrome is ... morein good condition. This has Getzen's early minimalist slide lock-a threaded boss on the side of the cork barrel that holds a brass screw. It's funky. But it works. The bell has scars from dents that were removed. Copper is a very soft metal. So many of these horns were damaged by rough treatment. See the attached pictures for an idea of the bell's condition. I'm including a vintage"All-Star" mouthpiece which has a shallow cup and suits the horn well. The horn is in an Olds case which fits it well. The case is heavy. So shipping costs will be on the high side.
