American Bridge. Spud Wrench 7/8" Quick release Belt.These look very old?There is no brass plate on the belt,it is stamped as shown in photo AB.on the leather piece.MSA started putting the Brass AB name plate in 1955 but from 1950 to 1954 the leather sleeve was stamped AB with USS underneath the AB.Prior to that the belt was just stamped AB.They did that from 1940 or 41 to 1949.Before that there was nothing nothing on the belt that AB marked the belt with. This belt is a real AB belt from the 1940's.You never see AB belts this old.They came together at a house sale.Buyer pays shipping and must pay with PayPal. Thank you for looking.

So it has surface rust and you can tell it was used on the job.That being said if you wanted to you could probably clean it up and it would look realy good, not that you should clean it though. Welcome to Southern Oak Iron Works. You are lookin at a bridge belt and bolt bag from 1980 with spuds from back in the day when the ole boy's daddy was hangin iron. The belt is dated 10-1980. It is in excellent condition without any damages besides normal wear. The two American Bridge Company spuds are 7/8 with an inside jaw dimension of 1-7/16" One has an overall length of 15-1/4" and the other is 17-1/2" Both have danced and can still cut a rug. VINTAGE AMERICAN BRIDGE CO HS IRONWORKER CONSTRUCTION STRUCTURAL 7/8 SPUD WRENCH
This uncommon hard steel 17 and 1/2 inch offset spud wrench was made by US Steel for the American Bridge Company. An engineering/construction firm located in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania since 1900 and is marked ABO(with USS in the O) and HS 7/8 on the wrench end. The wrench jaws are good, 1 and 7/16 inches wide. It weighs 1.4 pounds and is in good shape. There are no cracks or significant holes(round shallow pits are on the bottom of the wrench) and the steel welded on the bottom does not have any obvious reason to be there. Some of the blue paint used by American Bridge Co. is still on the wrench. Spuds can be used to line up holes in structural steel for bolting together. Using the other end to tighten the nut on the bolt. This tool can still be used for many more years or retired to a collection of fine American steel tools. Tools that helped ... morebuild American infrastructure and make America great.

This AB spud has seen a lifetime of service.It came from the estate of a Detroit-Local 25) Ironworker.This wrench is thoroughly experienced.The AB Co. is hard to read.it has marks all over it.It fits an 1-1/4" nut.The end has been ground down to make it easier to start a hole.If this wrench could talk.one can only imagine the jobs it has been on. Welcome to Southern Oaks Iron Works. You have found a couple of American Bridge Company division of United States Steel HS spud wrenches in immaculate condition. The 3/4 HS is its original length of 14-1/2" the 7/8 HS is its original length of 17-1/2" These ole dawgs have their original points and untweeked jaws. Along with no weld marks or filings. The scabbard shows the most sign of age. It isn't broke but with old leather you never can tell how it was treated before to withstand the test of time. Saddle up and hit the top with American made.
