Vintage pre 1970s Aluminum PANORAMA Hard Hat - Made in England - Cotton Straps
I bought this hard hat about 35 years ago at an auction in New Zealand. I bought it because I collected hats at the time and it caught my eye. My bid won it. And it has remained in a trunk for all these years. I unpacked it today, and although I still like it, I have accumulated way to many things since my traveling days. So. Here it is. I did a search on Ebay, I see there are a number of this style of hard hat available. I cannot find anything on the maker of this particular hat. Panorama" is the stamp under the brim, under that is"Made In England" The inside webbing is cotton, no plastic anywhere on this hard hat. The chin strap has a metal buckle that is a bit rusty, could use a good wire brushing. The hat has not been worn to the best of my knowledge. The brim of the hat has rivets for placement of the suspension strapping. ... moreSome places has 2 for better adjustment. Each end of the strap also has"Panorama" stamped on it. Good luck. The helmet was a fresh estate item and I did not clean it. Origional webbing is intact on the interior and the original owner has his name and profession tagged. The helmet was issued as part of the Engineering Division of Milwaukee Wisconsin. The helmet has two Instructor First Aid American Red Cross stickers on the front and back and the American Red Cross Volunteer circular decal on the sides. There are orange/brown rectangles on four sides and two letters and a cross in the front that are composed of two colors of paint. Helmet is in great shape with no dents. See photos. Also including a vintage VSW adjustable helmet liner which looks hardly used. I am not sure if this liner fits this helmet but they were found together. Aluminum hard hats were eventually replaced with impact resistant plastic or fiberglass. These are now collector's items. This one us in very good worn condition. There are several dings and scrapes. The headgear foam lining is deteriorated and flaking small pieces of foam. This hard hat us for display only. Please look at all photos.

With a few scratches and a couple of small dings. Still has a nice head adjusting insert. I got this from an Ex-Drag Racer, which he use to wear in the Pits during the 60's. Nothing that crazy about it, he just stuck a water decal on the front of it. Great for framing and displaying. Please see pics. A must for any collector.
