It is marked Wm R Sickles 1100 Sunset Ave Asbury Park NJ registered one quart liquid. It is 9 1/2" tall with a 3 5/8" diameter at the base. The base is marked with a circled 6 inside a letter s within a diamond shape. The neck of the bottle is surrounded by diamonds. The bottle is clean. There are 2 small chips and a 1/2" interior pressure chip inside the glass that can't be felt. Mostly in beautiful condition for its age. This antique is from an era of milk trucks delivering milk to your door. The neck took a cardboard stopper, I think. The glass is clear, the letters readable. Very Old BLOWN GLASS LONG 19.5" NECK BOTTLE PALE GREEN Wine? Bulbous Flat Bottom
I found this Tall Green Bottle behind the wall of an Old"Painted Lady" Victorian house in San Francisco that I was remodeling way back in the mid-1970's. It stands 19-1/2" tall( by 4-1/2" in diameter at the widest! Miraculously. It still has no chips, cracks or repairs! It's blown glass and pale green in color. Bulbous shape with a flat bottom. I haven't tried to clean the inside of it-there's some little silver glittery specks in the bottom and what I think is a water line about 1/2" up from the bottom. See pictures for details! I imagine the original workers on the house probably built after the 1906 earthquake had some wine for lunch and stuck it back there behind the wall. John Adams Wheaton Green Carnival Glass Presidential Collectors Decanter Bottle
The Wheaton Glass Company's roots date back to 1888 when Dr. T. Wheaton ventured into the glass making business. In 1967. Wheaton Glass began to produce commemorative decanters, flasks, and bottles. In 1969, the first Presidential bottle was issued. Each Presidential decanter was issued in a limited quantity with accurate images of the presidents. On the reverse is a quotation or slogan related to the Chief Executive. Different colors were used on several of the bottles. This Vintage John Adams Presidential Series Iridescent Green Carnival Glass Decanter depicts Adams on the front and says 2nd President 1735- John Adams- 1826 and the Copyright"Circle C" Symbol W 74 in relief. The back says John Adams"Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people" From: Dissertation on the Cannon and Feudal ... moreLaw 1765 in relief. The bottom of the decanter in relief says Wheaton, N.J. First Edition and includes the"circle C" copyright symbol. The decanter is in great condition with no chips, cracks or hairlines and little if any sign of use except for careful display. There is one production flaw on the back of the decanter which appears as a scratch and does not detract from the beauty in any way but is mentioned for accuracy. This decanter comes in the original box which is in good condition with no rips or tears. There is minor yellowing, staining and some crushing and creasing to the box indicative of age. Antique clear glass poison bottle Tabloid Blaud Pill Compound Burroughs Wellcome
Very old antique glass bottle for Blaud Pill Compound by Burroughs Wellcome& Co. of London. New York, Montreal, Sydney, etc. This original antique bottle dating from around 1900 came from my grandmother's estate. She collected a variety of things and had many different antique glass bottles from the 19th and early 20th century. This bottle is an interesting piece of medical and pharmaceutical history. It has the original paper label(brown with age) for the Tabloid brand"Blaud Pill Compound" manufactured by Burroughs Wellcome& Company of London. England. These pills contained iron in the form of ferrous carbonate, and they were taken by anemia patients for medicinal purposes. However they were also labelled as a poison, as they contained both strychnine and arsenic. Unfortunately the sugar coating on these pills resulted ... morein many children of the Victorian era being accidentally poisoned after finding the pills and eating too many because of the sweet taste. Apparently it is rare to find poison bottles made with clear glass, as most poisons were sold in dark blue, green, or brown bottles to better distinguish them from other medicines. This bottle measures 4.25 inches tall and is in very good condition, albeit a bit dusty. It has what appears to be the original old cork, and the glass is stamped Wellcome Chem Works 107A on the bottom of the bottle. If you have any other questions about this bottle, please let me know.
