Rare Vintage German Aplanatic Magnifying Loupes Lenses Original Case C. 1880
This is a rare and unusual set of aplanatic loupes(Aplanatische Loupen) made in Germany by C.A. Steinheil Sohne. Munich around 1880. The set includes four loupes and a handle in the original leather case with very nice gold-stamped purple velvet lining with the maker's name and"Munchen. The case has a space for a fifth loupe, which is missing from this piece. Of the four loupes included, three are in very good condition, no nicks or cracks, with excellent optics. The largest of the four loupes is in fair condition, with some oxidation, clouding of the optics and visible wear and tear. This was probably the one used most often by the owner of this kit. This loupe is also quite functional. The loupes are 1 3/8 inch at the widest point. It is difficult to tell whether the portion of the handle held in the hand is made of wood or some ... morekind of bakelite-like material. The other end is made of brass and the entire handle is in excellent condition. The black. These are surgitel loupes 2.5 magnification flip-ups on black metal frame in really nice used condition. Working distance 10-16 inches. Field of view 2-4 inches. The loupes come with a small silver case. Two lanyard and side shields. The silver box does have some scratches on it and the surgitel name on the top of the box has faded off some. Before I bought these loupes I looked them up to make sure that they were made by surgitel because the surgitel name is not on the loupes and I was skeptical. So today I was trying to disconnect the light from cord from the battery pack and my light suddenly stopped working. I twisted the attachment thing a few times and the light flickered on. The connector to the battery pack is now freely moveable around. I believe(but do not guarentee) that the light still works and it is the battery pack that does it fact not work. Regardless. I bought these loupes brand new a few months ago but decided that I need to go with a higher magnification. Everything in the picture is included. The battery pack is the mPack LL. Which has an extended battery life. I have never even used the 450mm spare lens. The only thing I modified was the inside of the case(I took some of the foam out so that you can fit the loupes and the light inside of it; you can see it in one of the pictures that I took) Sold as is. The frame are nice too they just have a couple small scratches on the outer rim of the metal and not a big deal. The pupillary distance is around 57/58 mm.
