1914 Anitque W. & L.E. Gurley Price Hydrological Current Flow Meter in Wood Box
For your consideration: An antique W& L.E. Gurley Price hydrological water current flow meter in the original dovetailed box. Includes original dated 1914 paperwork from the U.S. Bureau of Standards. Current Meter Notes dated 191_ And 1937 Department of Interior- Geological Survey rating table for this instrument which also states that it was repaired. Lid paperwork shows reduction table patterns for models 617, 618, 621 and 623. Missing a few pieces but pretty darn complete. Unit has the tailpiece(which has a large 6 and P.U. Co. stamped into one fin. The counterpoise and tailpiece set screw are present. The bucket wheel is complete and turns very smoothly. Has 2 contact chambers one has a 4 digit date code of 1459 so I believe this to be the 59th unit from the year 1914. The other chamber is dated 15911 so probably the 911th unit from ... more1915. They both only have a single binging post with one entrance hole so an old set of headphones would be required to use with this piece or a new contact chamber and headphones are still available from Gurley though that would be about $375. No sounding weight or weight hanger bar either. This is the vertical bar that connects the large bomb shaped weight to the fin and bucket assembly. Original small curved wrench, pivot assy, and adjusting pin shaft assy, and a dated 1903 small round tin box holding spare screws and nuts are the spare parts placed in specially designed wooden compartments inside the main box. Original hand dovetailed box is in great shape including the large leather carrying handle and brass pivoting latches. Somebody has painted 1 cone red in order to visually count rotations rather than using a headset. Whether done as convenience or the contact chamber needs replacing is a big question mark. Once again, a spare contact chamber is provided though. This is truly a great piece or set of early scientific ingenuity that is basically still used today! The assembly also has a flow meter setup on the same bracket with inlet and outlet for a flow meter, this would allow you to use the regulating valve to adjust your cfm flow. The flow meter is of unknown type. The Balston filter housing has a built in bypass system to blow off line or just to bypass, it is regulated by a valve. This system is setup for high pressure. We have more than one of these setups in very similar condition with the same Balston filter on each but the threaded connections into and out of the flow meter are ... moredifferent size connections. All include bypass, flow meter, regulating valve, and square casing that the filter is installed on. The replaceable filters are in unknown condition and most likely will need to be replaced to insure correct working condition. Raven RFM 200P 3" Poly Flow Meter
This is a slightly used Raven RFM200P 3" Poly Flow Meter. Was used for one day on about 700 acres while we waited for the correct 2" flow meter to be shipped. Was working just fine when we took it off to replace it with the correct size meter. Actually has a Terragator/AgChem harness connector on it. But I am including the adaptor we had made to adapt it back to a Raven harness connection. It can couple up to your system via 3" female pipe threads or 3" banjo flange type connections. Will handle very high flows, at least 80 gallon per acre at 19 mph. Manufacturer rates it at around 200 gallon per minute I believe. Raven part number tags are still on unit, along with calibration number. Pretty reliable units, already have two on the shelf, otherwise I'd keep it for myself as a spare. Up for sale is a 1" NPT GPI Electronic Digital Flow meter with stainless steel body. This is model# 03S31GM. It has the same specifications as the 03A31GM except this is the rare stainless steel version instead of aluminum. This is great for measuring batch and total flow for pretty much any system that needs batch flow measurements. You can Google the 03A31GM meter for details as it is easier to find than the 03S31GM. This meter is used. But has been tested for functionality. The plastic display cover shows some wear and small cracks which does not affect the functionality. The metal body and threads are in great shape. I have a total of 3 of these meters listed which are all in similar condition, so you may not receive exactly the one in the picture, but one that is also in working condition and cosmetically similar.
