Beautiful trencher dough/harvest bowl for five-day auction- low reserve! As shown in pics. Age-appropriate cracks and show-of-use evident in this piece. Natural, aged surface patina. Excellent grain, and full of character! For a hand-hewn bowl it sits remarkably level too. Dimensions are as follows(keep in mind thicknesses, heights, etc. vary all over this bowl- as with all hand-made pieces) 22 1/2" length, 13 1/4" width, 3 1/2" height(depth) and lip thickness on one end is approximately 3/4" and 1" on the other end. This gorgeous antique treen ware bowl is approximately 18" to 19" round in circumference since it is handmade and over 200 years old. It stands 3" high and has a wonderful patina. The pictures do not do it justice, it is much lovelier in person. Such a dark cloudy January day when I took the pictures under a lamp when I prefer sunlight. ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE OBLONG WOODEN TRENCHER DOUGH BOWL TREEN MEDIUM BROWN PATINA WITH HANDLES! Up for sale is this wonderful. Old, medium brown antique primitive hand-made wooden trencher or dough bowl. The trencher was imported from Eastern Europe. It is oblong in shape and has rectangular square handles on each end to carry it by. This trencher was hand carved and you can see the different marks throughout the bowl. There are some slight cracks and a couple of areas where wood is missing(inside the bowl) please see photos for accurate description. Scratch marks, dings and edge wear, variations in color, exactly what you want to see from a true antique! It measures 28 3/4" long x 17.5" wide x 7.25 and 7.5 on one side- 8" and 8.25" deep on the other side. There is a slight lean and this is common for these bowls. Great size ... moreand shape! It weighs 8.5 lbs. A great size that will fit almost anywhere! Great conversation piece and center piece- Lots of uses! There are only a few worm holes in this bowl as you can see in the pictures. This is not normal as these old bowls typically have hundreds of worm holes. It has old world charm including many evidences of being hand carved from one single piece of wood. There's some nicks. Pieces of wood missing, scrapes, dings, chips, cracks, nicks, wood missing, and worm holes, as you can see in the pictures. This wasn't a decoration but rather a working trencher! It has many character scratches to the interior and spotting or differences in color from age and use. Look at the color, WOW! We have tried to show all of this in the photos. Deutz Diesel(one of the best in the industry for longevity) has lots of power. No smoke or blowby. This machine had a leak at the front shaft seal of the hydro. We pulled it out. Lots of Labor. While it was out we had the hydro completely rebuilt by a very reputable company. Works like new. I have paperwork available. We also put a 7 1/2' fully hydraulic snow plow on for winter. This machine really pushes snow. It has great traction with the fluid filled new tires. The snow plow easily comes off and the original ... moredirt backfill blade bolts on with the original 4 bolts. Used for mixing. Chopping and raising dough. This is one of the few you will find without a crack which is unusual since it dates back to the late 1700's. Came out of a farm in central New Hampshire. Appears to be made from clear pine and has a wonderful patina on the outside. The interior has no finish which is the way it should be and can be used today for food products. The second photo shows a dark spot at the front left where the trencher was placed too close to the hearth. It's not a distraction. The more common examples without incurved corners, are generally much thinner and lighter, and invariably in my experience have solder repairs and splits.which makes this pair all the more desirable, especially as the maker is an early lady silversmith of whom very little is known. The salts have a monogram'GMB' In the style of the late 18th C, around 1775, so added around 50 years after the salts were made Condition: In fabulous antique condition. With no damage or repair and showing minimal signs of wear and with clearly legible hallmarks. Maker: MARY ROOD. LONDON 1725.
