Vintage Copper Soldering Iron Tip - Unusual Light Bulb Style Threaded Fitting
I've never seen one of these before. It's a copper soldering iron tip that includes a threaded end that looks like it screws into a small light bulb socket. The item looks like it was never used because there is no"tinning" on the tip. The overall length is about 2-3/4" The copper tip is about 1-1/4" long by 3/8" diameter. The insulator appears to be a ceramic of some type and the threaded end is brass with a center electrode just like a small flashlight bulb. Someone out there has the heating tool that goes with this so here is the tip you've been looking for. I want to sell this. So my auction starts at $0.99 with no reserve. As shown here, the tool is ready for use as a branding iron, having a very heavy(1 pound, 10 ounce! removable bronze brander which reads“AMER.HOMES,BLDRS” I believe this is the same“AMERICAN HOME BUILDERS” located in Sevierville in eastern Tennessee and in business of home construction for over 30 years. By simply loosening the two square-head bolts on the right front part of the torch. The branding iron is readily removed and the unit can function as a blowtorch, or with a copper tip, as a soldering iron. The brass tank is about 9 inches in length and 1 3/4 inches in diameter. And has a fluid capacity of 3/4 pint. The overall length of the tool from the front of the ... moreburner to the rear of the pump knob is 16 inches. The tank sure looks like copper to me, but, more likely, is brass with a copper coating. The two end caps are certainly brass, as is the packing nut on the control arm, and the pump housing, pump cap, and pump knob. Steel components include the pump rod, the feed tube, the control arm and wound-wire handle, the wind shield, the front“feet” beneath the burner, and the two nuts and two screws on the front of the burner(used to mount a soldering-iron tip or branding iron) The burner is cast bronze. So assemble it in the following order- keeping the wires from twisting around each other, screw in the: driver pill to the battery tube, the heatsink tube to the battery tube, and then the retaining ring. These instructions are shown visually in the pictures above. Device Operation: Laser driver set to 1.25A. Laser estimated to produce 700mw of output power. Replace the included glass lens with a G-2 or G-1 lens for red lasers for a full 1000mw(beam will be fatter/less pretty) The device operates on either 1x 18650 or 2x 16340 batteries(3.5 to 8.4 volts) Operation on the single battery will allow the laser to put out half power.
