20 KW Detroit Diesel with Emerson Electric Generator
2346# of the way America used to make equipment. This is an old diesel engine driven 1800 rpm 3 ph 20 KW Emerson AC generator. It has been in storage in my warehouse and is dusty but ready to go. Well. The battery was new from Caterpillar but it may need replacement due to non-use. I got this unit off ebay about ten years ago after we had a big tornado here vowing I would never be unprepared again. I bought it as I was familiar with Detroit Diesel and Emerson, sent it to the Detroit dealer for evaluation and service, spent money on a new one wire alternator and enjoyed watching it crank right up and run like it should. It is a 2 cycle and they will all smoke for a second or two when cranking, that is characteristic. The generator operates properly they said. I was happy with it. This design was used by the railroads for refrigerated cars ... morein the past. It does not use much fuel per hour. See Google 2-71 Detroit. The design was also used by the Bell system for emergency power. This particular unit came from Florida through ebay and I believe it was a railroad unit. At first that discouraged me but then I decided they would care for equipment if anybody would, have the money and cannot risk a carload of frozen food to a bad generator so I bought it and have been pleased. Lastly, it is said that the 2-71 can run on straight vegetable oil and as a rice farm owner with wells that appealed to me when diesel was(and will be) $4.00 per gallon. But I never bought the press to extract the oil so this claim is just hearsay although how to do it is on the internet. The oil has to be preheated by the exhaust for example and then it will work they say. Again, I do not warrant that it will operate on soy oil but it sure sounds like it will. We put a small tank on it in front of the radiator to keep the fuel lines full. Ideally it will be plumbed to a skid tank that is filled by a distributor. Come see it run. It also has the hook up for the military jeeps, and could be fully submerged underwater while on the front of the vehicle. Generac Guardian Ultrasource 4582 15,000 Watt Electric Start Generator
Generac Ultra Source 15.000 watt generator, in very good condition. unit has low hours as it was only used during power outages during a storm here in south Florida. It has electric start and has a 30 hp Briggs& Stratton twin v engine. Generator was always stored indoors. So it is not weathered at all. This unit has a brushless generator head versus a brushed head on the current Generac model the GP15000E. And that makes this model a much better unit with cleaner power delivery. The other thing is the unit I have for sale is 450 lbs versus 373 pounds for the GP15000E! And the reason for that is? 77 lbs of more copper built into the generator head and a brushless design as stated above makes this unit far superior to the new cheaply made units today. This permanent magnet motor was part of a PC board handling system. It was in a clean room so there is no dust on it. It looks like new other than a few scuffs on the end cover where it was set on the floor. I checked it with a Megger and it read infinite so I don't think its run much at all. The shaft is 1/2 inch with a flat and a keyway. I have the Minarik controller that was with it listed separately. The mounting bracket comes with it.

You are buying a Vintage 5 bar Silver magneto. Its made by Western Electric. This is an oldie that still works. Its true when they say things were built to last back in those days. This is really heavy for its size. The crank turns with ease. I have to see.this is one of the nicest ones I sold.The only thing I did was oil it and now it runs smooth. Never officially got used in a blackout/ storm. got run occasionally to keep everything happy. They upgraded cottage to all propane appliances, furnace and then a new genset. I have had it a couple of years and just like them I ran it now and again but never in a storm situation. It can't have over 100 hours on it but I can't prove it. Vintage Western Electric 5 Bar Magneto Generator Phone Oak Wall Phone Chicago
You are buying a Vintage 5 bar magneto. Its made by Western Electric. This is an oldie that still works. Its true when they say things were built to last back in those days. This is really heavy for its size. This came of a Vintage Oak Wall Phone box. When you turn the crank the bells would ring loud. The crank turns with ease.Shows some use to it.but as you can see still looks great. I left it alone. Its dusty and dingy. This will need to be cleaned up. When you crank, its make a really cool sound when it starts to generate. The only thing I did was oil it and now it runs smooth. often. This is HEAVY! This is a great piece of history.
