Buddy Rhodes Triad Planetary Concrete Wet/Dry Grinder/Polisher - used once!
This is a fantastic grinder/polisher. I used it for one job- grinding and polishing out my basement floor. It's the best thing of it's kind on the market from my experience- here's why I say that. I initially rented the industry-standard handheld planetary polisher to do the job- a much more expensive unit(over 3k) the motor on that unit burned out after 2 days work. Because the gears got jammed up and the grinder motor didn't shut down fast enough. The rental company gave me another one- brand new, it lasted another week or so before it's gears jammed and I gave up and returned it. I bought this Buddy Rhodes machine thinking that I would have to baby it through the rest of the job(about 60% left) And hoping and praying that it would make it. Not only did it perform with flying colors. There was no jamming of gears; it ... moreground and polished better than the more expensive unit; it has speed control(the other one was fixed at the speed that the manufacturer thought was the optimal speed- wrong! you need to vary the speed depending on what kind of wheels you're using. Whether your working wet or dry, etc) the water hose didn't constantly leak like the other. this grinder allows you to get much closer to a wall than the others I've seen. you could conceivably take the grinder off of this unit and use it as a single-head edger. Although I recommend buying a separate grinder for that cause it's a job taking this apart. a single head grinder is only about $100 brand new. and best of all- this unit is much lighter and more compact than any other planetary grinder- working on a vertical surface it's much easier to handle. I think the reason that the gears on this are so stable is that they're concealed better than the other units I've seen. Here is a good used 10" Professional concrete leveling, Diamond Grinding Head with twenty segments and gaps between the segments. Used for grinding materials such as concrete. Stone, hard epoxies and thin-set. Repairing concrete imperfections. Leveling uneven spots or joints, and smoothing rough or patched concrete surfaces. For wet and dry use. I am not sure of all the machines it will fit but doing a little research I believe it has several mounting holes for a large variety of machines. Makita Concrete Grinder - 7" - With Shroud and Wheel
I bought this to grind a rough garage floor and finished the job. So I need to get this grinder out of the way. It worked well for this project. It is a Makita, model GA7021, and it has a 15 Amp motor. The shroud worked well, it connected directly to my shop vac hose with the adapter shown and kept the dust to a minimum. The wheel it probably about 50-60% and the cord is in good condition.
