Rare Vintage Banthrico Star War Robot R2D2 W Darth Vader Helmet Mint
I've seen some of Banthrico's other metal coin banks(they produced more than 900 of them from 1931-1985) Mostly buildings, vehicles, and US president heads. But it's this piece that stands out in my eyes, and for obvious reasons. It's like R2-D2 mutated and fused with the top of Darth Vader's helmet! I'm always a fan of knockoff one-eyed domed robots. And it's even better when they have that familiar R2-D2 design on the top of their head. This bank meets all three points, making for an excellent collectible. You rock, Banthrico. Take off for intergalactic adventure with this awesome battery operated Super Robot! Made in Hong Kong. This all-plastic robot stands approximately 11" tall and includes the original illustrated box. Made entirely of gray plastic with red feet and an articulated chest-plate, this has a cool Star Wars Stormtrooper style helmet. I popped some batteries in it and the chest-plate lit up but the robot did not walk or execute the firing function. As with all vintage toys, the freshness and placement of the batteries can effect the functionality. Battery compartment is clean and free from corrosion. Roman Ceramics 1977 R2D2 Cookie Jar Missing plastic liner. Has crack(s) It's said that this was George Lucas' favorite bit of merchandise and that he has at least one of them in his own home. Made in 1977 R2D2 has the perfect body shape to hold lots of your favorite cookies. This particular one suffered a single trauma which is evident in the photographs. This crack was not repaired.
