Pair of large, hand-blown, air twist goblets
This is what we believe to be a pair of modern. Hand blown, air twist goblets dating from the late 20th century. The glasses are in excellent condition for their age. This means. Of course, that they show some age related wear and tear to the rims of the feet and bowls consistent with age and use. They have polished out pontil marks in the centre of the feet. The glasses have funnel bowls measuring 10.3 cm(4.1 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowls are extruded to short stems with a multi series air twist. And conical feet which measure 8 cm(3.2 inches) in diameter. The glasses are 18 cm(7.2 inches) in height. There are no chips. Cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. I believe this to be a hand operated WW2 Air raid siren. It was made by Klaxon of Warwick Road. Birmingham England(Who now have a road named after them although they no longer exist) From Label: Model number 05 Serial number 0 68 This is a"barn find" and overall in good condition. The metal surface has a few rust patches in places but nothing serious. The wooden handle etc is in good condition and the siren works- it is loud. Can be a tad stiff to start sometimes and the label has damage/wear to right hand edge. Still screwed to a wooden plug that likely fitted into a tube or pole as it needs to be firmly held to operate it easily. This would be a really great addition to any collection. FINE VINTAGE U.S. QMC WWII ARMY JEEP HAND TIRE AIR PUMP MODEL T STYLE, WORKS OK!
Up for auction in its original FOUND condition. Is a very cool old WWII era tire hand pump, with a wooden T style handle, bottom(base) is made out of cast iron. This base/bottom plate have the embossed letters(US QMC) on the top side. Pump still works, pump air with good pressure when you hold your finger over the end that screws on to the tire valve stem. It has the T style wooden handle, there is a hair line crack in both ends of the wooden handle( but where the cracks are,I do not think that it will brake) picture shows the bigger crack in the wooden handle. The red rubber hose is 24" long with has a brass screw on thing that screws on to the tire valve stem( threads look good on the inside) Pump body is made of metal and was painted black, but most of the black paint is scratched/worn off, there is some surface rust, but no rust ... morepitting or dents in the pump body. Pump is 21" long when the handle is pushed down and 38" long with the handle extended. The cast iron embossed bottom/base plate is 7" long, 2" wide. There is nothing broken or repaired that I can see. Looks complete, but please view all pictures. A great old piece for your WW2 collection or for a old WW2 army jeep restoration. When I got the pump it was covered with a lot of dust and dirt, so I did wipe to off with a rag that had some linseed oil on it. The vast majority of my items are used, vintage or antique and usually all have previously been enjoyed with normal wear from being handled, so please view all pictures because they are part of the description and for additional condition. This grouping is named to Doctor Wilmot B Boone who was a Captain in the US Army Medical Corps. He was the head surgeon at Kanchow Air Base in China during WWII. There are over 100 original documents included in all. There are about 45 original hand written letters from Dr. Boone. They are all an extremely interesting read. The letters describe Dr. Boone's daily life in China. Most of letters are written to his wife. Who lived in Indianapolis. He describes in detail the type of food, people, how he misses home etc. There is one very interesting letter where he is describing an"epidemic" Another letter is from a soldier who is thanking Dr. Boone for saving his life. Original Large WWII 1939 ARP Air Raid Precaution Wardens Hand Bell James Barwell LOTS MORE PHOTOS BELOW- Click to Enlarge An original WW2 Air Raid Precaution hand bell. Made by James Barwell of Fiddian Foundry, Birmingham, and dated for 1939. The bell has been cast with A.R.P. to the rim and JB/ 39 to the top(James Barwell 1939) The ferrule has a rubbed mark. Probably Fiddian, and the bell has it's original metal clapper& turned wood handle- please see photos& click to enlarge. Condition is good with no damage. There are the expected light marks to the bell and the handle has some period ink stains. Otherwise fine. The bell stands approx 10" 25.5cm tall and is heavy at just over 1Kg.
