Vintage Wooden Fishing Cod Reel, "Good Luck" Ball Bearing Horseshoe trdmark
Up for auction is an antique cod fishing reel. From what I've learned in looking into these reels. These reels were made between the 1890's through about 1920 and were known as"Good Luck" reels used for salt water bottom fishing, usually for cod. This one is final"S" models made with black bulb knobs and is 6" It's in fair to good condition for its age, and has the horseshoe trademark stamp(see photos) I am not an expert in fishing reels, so I have not cleaned this and will leave it to the new owner. This classic reel looks like it would clean up well and be a nice addition to your collection. I accept PayPal and will ship upon receipt of payment. I have been making plans to make something out of all these great finds that I got in her treasure trove. But I don't think I will ever get around to it. I need to raise some money. The piece comes with the two collars found in it. One is marked Senator 1 ½ x 15 ½ and the other is Ace Brand Prince George 15 ½. Condition: Excellent. No major issues. Minor issues could be where the leather strap is beginning to micro crack(very hard to see and very small) with age but this is normal and expected with a piece that is over 100 years old. Rare Dragon Horseshoe Trinket Box Porcelain Unusual Mark European? Asian Motif
This lot is a Porcelain Hinged Trinket Box. It is a Horseshoe shape with a Dragon and some writing. I think it is European. I was not at all familiar with the mark or the look of it- but. I liked it. There may have been something(a mark) ground off the bottom as it has an unglazed area. It is about 3 3/4" long, a little over 3" at widest and about 1 3/8" tall. The dragons and other decorations are raised, inside has handpainted flowers. Selling"as found" with no attempt to clean or restore. I use EMI for overseas as some countries have no other options. This is a nice Good Luck Token from the Silver City Casino. Which was located on the Las Vegas Strip. The outer edge of both sides has a horseshoe design. One side has GOOD LUCK Silver City CASINO. The other side has Silver CIty LAS VEGAS THE FUN SPOT ONTHE STRIP. It is aluminum and was made to hang from a key chain. It is 1.6" X 1.4" The Silver City Casino operated from 1974 through 1999. The original owner was Major RIddle. He sold it to Circus City Entertainment in 1980. The casino was on rented property and a new owner evicted Circus City in 1999. This is a large vintage ring marked Mexico. It has an enameled design of horseshoes and horse heads. The enameling is partially worn off of the horseshoe. I am not certain what the metal might be- it looks like it has some silver content but is heavily discolored or worn off. This is a good sized ring- it is a size 10. The top of the ring measures 1 1/8" x 1" Interesting old ring despite its wear.
