You are bidding on a very old veterinary model that we call a glass cow. Meaning you can see through it(It is actually made of plastic) The cow comes apart so you can see the inner workings of the heart, lungs, liver, GI tract and more. It is in pretty good shape for its age but might be missing a couple pieces including a clear plastic inside back leg and the tail. The ears need to be glued back in place. Up for bid is a 1999 LaBoit Vet Box. There are 9 drawers as shown in the pictures. The upper left and upper right drawers have dividers for many(up to 100 ml) injection bottles. Bottom center drawer holds a 4- 5 gal. stainless steel bucket and a small trash can. Middle center drawer has dividers for syringes and needles. The upper left drawer locks for storage of controlled drugs(keys included) All the drawers work as they are supposed to. Pictures depict the box inside a 2007 Chevy Suburban. Overall dimensions are 45" wide. 30" deep and 35" high(with the top rail and base) Without the rail the box and base are 32" high. Mounts to the vehicle through the floor board with 4 bolts and the box mounts to the base with spring loaded pins as to make the box removable without removing the mounting base bolts. Letters, a couple photos and other items from Captain James Jackson Minot, Jr who was an officer with the U.S. Army Remount Service in France during the war. Many of these items are addressed to Minot in the 313rd Field Remount Squadron with some showing his location as the Remount Depot at Sougy and later at Remount Depot No. 7 at Merignac in France. The US Army Remount Service was part of the Quartermaster Corps and chiefly involved in the procurement and training of horses and mules for the military. Over 500.000 horses were processed by the Remount Service ... moreduring WWI and used by Cavalry, Artillery and for other uses. Minot was the scion of an elite Boston medical family and the brother of George Minot who won an Noble Prize in Medicine in 1934. Included in the archive is a lengthily three page letter from George Minot’s wife Marian(nee Weld) that discusses some of George Minot’s activities along with other news from home. There are close to 100 pieces total in this archive with the bulk of the material dating to the very end of the war through the first few months of 1919. The lot includes a few letters from home plus a few letters from Minot’s brother Henry Whitney Minot who was also on active duty in France. One of Henry’s letters begins: Sept. 22/18– I am at present sitting in the middle of a field presumably attacking a hill but the wave I am in as a bomber seems to have stopped unfortunately. Portable Veterinary Anaesthetic Anesthetic Machine (Like Stevens Kommesaroff)
This is a portable Vapouriser In Circuit veterinary anaesthetic machine similar in design to a Stevens or Kommesaroff. It consists of a flow meter. Purge valve, plastic soda lime canister, glass vapouriser all mounted on a steel beam with a clamp for mounting on a vertical pole such as a drip stand. It comes with a 1.5 metre circuit, a 2 litre bag and a 500ml bag. The small bag needs replacing as it has a hole but I am including it because it has a fitting to mount to the machine. The vapouriser is marked and calibrated for methoxiflurane(like most early Stevens' and Kommesaroffs) but works well with isoflurane. The machine weighs 2.7kg(without soda lime) and is very small and compact and is great for a travelling or wildlife vet where it can be packed in a vehicle or aeroplane then set up on site by mounting on a drip pole or similar. ... moreNote that the drip pole in the photo is for demonstration purposes only and is not included. Two Antique Brass& Steel Fleams Veterinary Medical: Critchfield Maker Norwich These are two interesting brass and steel medical instruments dating from between about 1790 and 1850. They are Fleams. Used for making the incision when blood letting. One has the makers mark" Critchfield Maker Norwich" this is probably Samuel Critchfield. Who is listed as a surgical instrument maker at 21 Gentlemans Walk, Norwich, in the 1842 Norwich Directory. He was in business from at least 1830. There is another possible maker- James Crittchfield, listed as a Cutler in about 1800. The other fleam has a broken blade- it has a makers mark on the brass casing: BORWICK" Size: about 3 1/2 inches long when closed( 9 cm) Weight: 184 grammes together Condition: fair- both have some wear and light rust. Up for bid is a rare Dr. A. C. Daniels bottle with paper label. Dr. Daniels focused primarily on veterinary medicine. I do not know the age of the bottle. It reads: Dr. A. C. Daniels No. 1. Contents 1 fluid ounce. Alcohol 65% by volume. Active ingredient: Nux Vomica contains 44/100 grain of strychnine in each fluid ounce. Direction for us on Carton. Manufatured by A. C. Danield Inc. Ideal Pistol Grip Veterinary Syringe, 1960s
This item is an Ideal Pistol Grip Vaco-Rubber Plunger Veterinary Syringe. It is in the original box and contains the original instructions as well as one needle. I believe the syringe originally came with an assortment of needles. It has been sitting in this box. Unused, since the day my father got out of the hog business in 1972. The syringe disassembles and assembles easily. All gaskets are in place and the rubber grommetts on the plunger are intact. The box has some stains on the cover but is in remarkably good shape considering the man who used the syringe. SHIPPING IS INSIDE THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES ONLY. NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING. Dr. Hess Stock Book: A Scientific Treatise on Horses. Cattle, Hogs, Sheep and Poultry by Gilbert Hess. M.D. D.V.S. 96-page booklet. Published early 1900s Once upon a time. When Bossy got the Bloat or your pig caught a case of the Thumps, this would have been a great booklet to have handy. Dr. Gilbert Hess, one of the best-known veterinarians of his day, penned this helpful treatise back around the turn of the last century. The booklet doesn't show a publication date, but my Internet detective work turned up 1901 as the most likely date. Dr. Hess and his business partner, J.L. Clark, were quite the entrepreneurs, building what became one of the largest factories in Ohio to turn out a line of tonics, dips, and other veterinary preparations invented by Dr. Hess. The primary purpose of this slim volume was probably to promote his products, ... morewhich are listed in the back. This 96-page booklet measures 7.5" x 4.75" And is in very good condition for a document of its age. No tears or marks on the pages or cover. The pages have yellowed a bit due to age, and the front cover has a few creases, but this is obviously a book that was never used for its intended purpose. All pages are securely attached, and the way they've never been pressed down to lie flat makes me wonder if the booklet has even been read. This booklet belonged either to my grandfather or great-grandfather. Neither was a farmer or a veterinarian. But both loved animals. We found it while organizing a bunch of old family photos and documents. Since it really doesn't have much in the way of sentimental value, we decided it would be better off in a new home where it can be appreciated, instead of getting stuck back into a storage box where no one will look at it for another 100 years. Add it to your collection! Perfect for farmers. Farm animal lovers, current or future veterinarians, and anyone else who'd get a"kick" out of this glimpse of the past. Vintage Veterinary, two for one money Germo and Pratt's, tins horse and chick
This is two items for one money. Tin cans of veterinary medicines. 1. GERMO chick tablets. 3 3/4" tall and 1 3/4" in diameter. Some dirt and age issues but very displayable. 2. Pratt's ROUP POWDER. 3" by 2" lot of age and color problems bet very displayable, dirt and tarnish to tin. Both items are very old and have tarnish to the metal but no holes or serious pitting. I believe the Germo is cardboard with tin top and bottom. The Pratt's has a ding to the top side. I have pictured. These will make a nice addition to the collection! Look close.
