Antique Ornate Cast Iron Veterinary Obstetric Pig Berthing Forceps
Here is what I believe may be a very early veterinary instrument made to assist in the berthing of baby pigs. This interesting pair of animal health forceps is made of iron and is about 16" in length with one end having a pliers type grabbing tool and the other resembling a bull lead. The patent number. 90.98 is found on the inside of the jaws though no other markings can be found. This is an excellent conversation item that would make a great addition to any farm tool collection and in good condition with some light surface rust and scuff marks. Check out my! Autoclave Pelton & Crane OCM Sterilizer Omniclave Tattoo Dental Veterinary salon
This is a used Pelton Crane OCM autoclave that has been cleaned. Calibrated, and tested. We received it non working conditioning and diagnosed it and repaired it. The unit is running in some of the pictures so you can see it up to temperature. I cleaned out the reservoir and chamber and inspected all wiring connections. It is in great working condition and comes with tray rack, and 1 large tray. Another tray can be ordered for you by a medical dealer. The outside of the unit looks ok but you can see some wear on it. Our Process: We repair autoclave of almost all types, makes, and models. In effect of doing this we run into a lot of working and non working units. Some of these units become parts machines and some are what we call rebuild able cores. The good rebuild able cores are usually more rare as most doctors will use the unit to about ... moreits max. We diagnose every unit that comes in the door. We then deem it to be one of the other. The ones that are rebuild able are repaired and then we replace the parts that fail the most frequently. We open up and clean out all the solenoids, valves, check all the wiring, and connections to make sure their is no corrosion or debris that may make the units fail. Once the repair of the unit is done we move on to testing. All repaired units are then tested extensively(15 cycles at least) If there is one failure in any of the cycles we send the unit back and it starts the entire process over. When a unit finishes testing and checks out good then it is pictured and listed on eBay. Once a purchase is made and payment is received we pull the unit down and run complete cycles for the entire day. With dry time included each cycle is about an hour long, so it gets tested about 8 more times. Bottom of box does have a split in one board but does not effect the overall use and enhances the look. The lid is on hinges that are nice and strong. Published in 1746(the first edition was published in 1741) It is bound in original tan calf with raised bands and gilt decorations on the spine and measures 10 1/2 x 8 inches with 641 pages. The sections cover anatomy, the horse in general, the rider and harness, maladies, surgery, farriery, and medicines from plants. In the section on riding it advises women(riding aside) to look forward between the horse’s ears as a man does and not sideways as ordinarily shown by painters. It is illustrated by an engraved plate comparing the seat of a man and a woman. Another of the engraved plates shows two views of a side-saddle(Figure H” Part of which is an iron side-rail(b” for grasping. Figure F” is a pair of stirrups with a leather loop at the top that would slip over ... morethe pommel, allowing the woman’s saddle to be ridden by a groom. Even though the material on side-saddle in this book is short, Rhonda Watts Hettinger does describe it as"the first book dealing at any length with riding for women, in her wonderful book, The Illustrated Encyclopaedia of the Sidesaddle. Here is an antique 12 sided amber brown color glass horse veterinary medicine bottle. We believe this bottle is from the late 1800‘s. The seams go over the shoulder and end at the neck. The neck was made a little crooked. This bottle has several small bubbles in the glass and it measures 5 1/2” tall by 1 7/8” wide. Around the top of the bottle it says Kendall’s Spavin Cure. On the bottom it says Enosburgh Falls, VT. and it is lightly stamped RG. There are no chips, cracks, scratches or dark stains. There is a little light haze on the inside.
