Here are 4 tested(two matched pairs) of vintage RCA Radiotron UX-226 globe radio tubes with engraved bakelite bases. They were checked on a Military I-177 dynamic mutual conductance tube tester where 1500 and up is Good. They tested good at 1800. 1800, 1900 and 1900. They were also tested in a working radio. There were no shorts or gas in them. The bases are tight on 3 of them and slightly loose on one of them. Shipping will be $6.00 including insurance, within the US. This auction is for three(3) pieces of Type 1625 beam power tubes. Typically used in the RF final amplifier(or driver) stage in vintage military and ham radio transmitters, as well as serving as modulators in many transmitters. They also carry the military nomenclature of VT-136. All three of them are used and without boxes. All tested good in my TV7/U military tube tester. The type 1625 was a design released by RCA in September. 1943, as the 12.6 volt variant of the famous type 807 tube(released on the same date) It has a rated plate dissipation of 25 watts and has a 7 pin Micanol(tan) base. The 1625s were used in numerous WWII military transmitters, such as the SCR-274. AN/ARC-2, AN/ARC-5, TCS, and many more. They were also popular in ham radio gear after the war because of availability in large quantities at low prices. These tubes would ... morebe of interest to those restoring and using military and ham transmitters of the post-war and early 1950s era. These tubes were part of a lot I obtained from a retired local ham. As you can see from the photos. The glass envelopes are in excellent condition, with no nicks or scratches. The bases are free of chips and cracks, and all pins are intact. The base and on-glass markings are as shown in the photos. Here is the story for each of these tubes: 1. The two(2) RCA tubes: The base of each tube is ink stamped with the RCA logo. The VT-136 designation, and what appears to be a date code that does not fully correlate with the information I have in Ludwell Sibley's reference book, Tube Lore. The code that appears is"S4E" The"4" translates to production during the July-August time frame. And the"E" refers to being an OEM tube(as opposed to having been sold as a replacement type) The"S" is the question; according to Sibley's book, that letter implies a manufacturing date in 1942, a date not possible for a tube that was not released for production until 1943.
