you are bidding on a Vintage microscope by E. Leitz Wetzlar good condition. Made in germany in the 1920s. No. 273167, w/ metal horse shoe style base. It comes with 6x&10x eyepieces and it is equipped with 10x-45x-100x magnifying lenses. It includes 4 metal conainers- 1/12 oel immersion, a#3 container, a#6L container and cedern-oel container. The cedern container is seized close and feels heavy, There may be a objective inside. It looks as if someone has used pliers or something to try to force open as container has some gauge marks on outside. I can not open with hands, I’m not sure if it can be opened again. There are two boxes full of glass slides, cleaning cloth and an empty eye dropper. It all comes inside original wooden box that is pretty beat up but still intact. The old key and lock still function. The box has a storage compartment ... morew/ lid and two racks to hold eyepieces and containers. Inside on door is original microscope documentation and pamphlets. It is missing a clip that holds slide in place. There is some corrosion on the shinny brass in several parts, this is surface damage that affects color of brass. All the metal is solid, lenses move freely and focus mechanisms work correctly. These have been used and have some scuffs and scratches but no major damage. They would be nice for lab use, collector or good for decoration in your den or lab. Up for offer is an antique collectable item from our family! Our family is from Mennonite background and has lived in Southwestern. Ontario– Canada, specifically Kitchener and Ingersoll, after immigrating to Canada from Pennsylvania from the 1760’s. Later relatives were avid antique enthusiasts and many collectables& antiques have been carefully stored and passed down. And here we are offering from this collection. This E. Leitz Wetzlar# 95675 microscope was purchased by my family in 1906 by my great uncle who attended and graduated from Medical School at the University of Toronto in 1907. It was then gifted to my father who attended and graduated Medical School at the University of Toronto in 1939. Both my great uncle and father used this scope at both Medical School and within their practices in Vancouver and Toronto. 5 Microscope Slides: Botanical all professional incl. poss. J W Neville
These five professionally mounted Microscope Slides are all botanically related. The Section of Potato has elaborate ringing very much in the style of J W Neville who possibly mounted and decorated this slide. It is signed G Jelly with the initials J H B which stand for J H Baxter. Both of these men were fellow microscopists of J W Neville in Birmingham. England in the 1880s. The other slides were prepared by Cole, Flatters& Garnett, Norman and Darlaston. There is a very tiny nick at the top RH corner of the Norman slide but the subject matter is not affected; otherwise the slides are in excellent condition, very clean with coverslips intact. An embryo developing with a condition called anencephaly. Where the baby would have been born with little or no head. In the case of this specimen I believe it would have been no head at all. This is an auction for a Box of 60 Sears. Roebuck& Co. Prepared Slides. I have no way to determine the status of the individual slides however. They do look like they have seen little use. Inside the box are five boxes of twelve slides by category(Honey Bee& Butterfly Parts; Blood Structure; Tiny Creatures; Bacteria; Sea Life) While the outer box shows wear and tear the five inner boxes are in very good shape and don't look to have been opened a lot.
