This auction is for a RARE and VERY LARGE Antique Footed Hot Water Warming Meat Platter. After many years in the business. This is the first warming meat platter I have seen, I have seen numerous warming entre dishes, but never a serving platter. The platter measures 27 inches long by 18 3/4 inches wide with a remarkable 20 inch by 15 inch true sunken working area- this will accommodate the largest of birds- even a 14 to 15 lb. suckling pig. This RARE piece is in VERY GOOD condition- t he water jacket has been tested and is water tight. As well the rubber seal on the cap has been replaced and seals well. There are no note worth dents(a few very small dimples) No damage and NO monograms. Nor any signs of silver wear through; however, surface of the tray does have cut marks and scratches which we have shown in several close-up pictures provided. ... moreOddly. We can find no makers mark- we suspect it was originally on the bottom of the top part of the tray, but when the bottom water jacket was add it covered it up and no new mark was added to the jacket? We believe the tray is circa 1890-1900. But do not know for sure. This is an absolutely marvelous piece BUT better get the Hubby to carry this to the Dinning Table. It is a substantial tray- empty( 7 Kg. or over 15 lbs. And with the addition of the OVER 5 QUARTS of Hot Water plus the Turkey- it will be definitely be heavy. For those who know how long it takes for a large batch of jello left to the open air to cool. They will appreciate how long this enclosed tray will stay warm. Imagine how nice it would be to let your turkey rest on this warming platter. Keeping it warm, even after being carved and stay warm while the rest of the meal is set upon the table and even still be warm later for the big eaters 2nd and 3rd go arounds. This is a beautiful Vintage SHERIDAN SILVER OVER COPPER SAMOVAR. COFFEE, TEA, OR HOT WATER URN. I usually used it at holidays for hot water for tea, cocoa or other hot drinks. I found this lovely piece at an estate sale and it is in excellent condition. The inside is oxidized as well as underneath where the burner goes. It was missing the burner when I bought it but can easily be replaced. I used a glass votive dish that fit underneath with tea candles to keep it hot. The only problem I have found, which is very minor, is on the inside of the lid. If you look really close, you can see a small dent in the inside rim that doesn't show. It may have a few minor scratches but can probably be polished out. I did a quick clean on it for pics but will do more cleaning before shipping. Everything works perfectly. This is an exquisite antique silver-plated oil burning hot plate/ chafing dish. It is extremely ornate with very dimensional intricate detailing. It is beautifully footed with very nice floral and shell design, the handles are equally as ornate with much detailing. It is a three piece set the large base. The removable hot plate, and the burner. the silver-plated burner sits recessed into the inside of the base and would hold oil. the plate has some ware on the top but still usable. There is also a nice badge on the side which would be used for initials of owner. the base has many holes in the bottom and under the handles for venting heat. The silver is in great shape and there are no dents in the piece. it measures 13 1/2 inches wide by 4 1/4 inches tall. the hot plate is 10 1/4 inches in diameter. the burner has a little wiggle room in the ... morerecessed base but looks to be original.
