Antique Bullet or Clot Extractor by Codman & Shurleff, Boston Ebony Handle CW
This is an antique surgical instrument by Codmann& Shurtleff. Boston. It measures 9 1/2 inches long, has a double helix worm at the tip and a hatched ebony grip at the end. I have two plausible theories of what it's use is. As it is similar to a gun worm it could be a bullet extractor, especially for lead bullets or minie balls. The second theory is that it is for breaking up or extracting clots from blood vessels. As I don't honestly know I am open to suggestions. I am offering a group of instruments and am happy to combine shipping.

Here is a complete set up of Headlamp. Fiber optic cable and Illuminator power supply. This would make a great back up unit or for a small satellite office/clinic. The Headlamp is a Codman lightweight Coaxial Headlight with a variable spot.and I think it is Model 24-2999. The fiber optic cable is also Codman Model 24-3074, autoclavable and is 10 feet in length. The cable seems to be in excellent condition. The variable headlamp seems to have possible a small chip at the outer periphery. You can see it in one of the photos but it only shows when the iris is open all the way. When the spot is made smaller, the chip doesn't appear. The headband appears to be in great shape with all the leather pads complete and not breaking down. The ACMI Power illuminator model has dual ports.
