There is"H.M Edward VIII" above the King's portrait. And"Coronation 1937, ER" to the other side. The earthenware beaker measures approx. 111mm tall and 71mm across the rim. It is marked with a printed crown and"Johnson Bros. England" And an impressed"Patent Applied For" to the basse. Condition: There is a very small chip to the inside rim of the beaker. Royal Doulton Edward VII 1902 Coronation Correct August Date Beaker
A bone china beaker by Royal Doulton for the 1902 Coronation of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. On the front has fine portraits of them with the crown and on the back in green writing the details and that it was a presentation beaker given by John C. Straker. Also it has the correct date of August 9th 1902. Originally the Coronation was scheduled for June 1902 but the King fell ill and it was postponed until 9th August. Most commemoratives were already out and sold with the June date so very few manufacturers made any with the correct August date. Made by Georg Jensen in 1922 and bearing a full set of London import marks for 1922. This is a lovely large beaker cup with a superb hand hammered finish made in 1922 by Georg Jensen. The beaker cup is of superb design and quality. The beaker has a flared top rim above fluted tapering sides with a knop to the centre above a 10 sides pedestal base. The inside of the rim of the beaker has the inscription'Holiday Course Smile 1923' The beaker is 3-1/2 inches/ 89 mm in diametre and it stands 4-5/8 inches/ 117 mm high. Made of thick gauge silver. It weighs 190 grams. The underside of the beaker has clear Danish hallmarks- GI-925S mark. Assay Master mark for Christian Heise, Danish thee towers mark with 22 for 1922 ... moreand Georg Jensen maker's mark. The underside is also stamped with pattern number 295a The side of the beaker has a full set of London import marks- letter g for 1922 and sponsor's mark GS for George Stockwell.
