Rare Vintage Leather Handheld Medical Obstetric Stirrups
These devices are from a'turn of the century' doctors estate. I believe them to be Obstetrical stirrups. Each'shoe' is fitted to a metal stirrup which is attached to a adjustable leather strap which terminates in a pretty heavy duty hand grip. The piece shown by itself in the last photo appears to be some sort(or part) of a leather sling. There is some deterioration with the leather shoes. Two-Piece, Adjustable, the Round stirrup Post is made of 1/2" Knurled stock and Measures 17 5/8" Long from the end of the post to the top of the stirrup. Antique Medical Exam Table - Wood w/ Original Stirrups
I bought this from a physician about two years ago(another collector) and have enjoyed it in my home*so* much- Unfortunately my spare room is about to become a nursery. So it's time for*this* baby to find a new home. The former owner replaced the handles with white porcelain pulls(that you can remove super easily if you want something different. The stirrups are ORIGINAL and the only repair done has been to replace the little screw that holds them into place. Stainless steel parts with stainless steel screws often break. And I wanted to preserve the piece, so I had an engineer make new screws just for this. The table is on casters and can scoot pretty easily. It's never damaged my floors doing so(I move it to clean of course) but it's a little squeaky. The back rest is adjustable and sturdy and the top/headrest can fold out. Really long time trying to find one in this condition that was truly an antique and made of solid wood, that had all the drawers and parts, and boy oh boy was I glad when I found this. A standard medical patient examination table with detachable stirrups. Recently reupholstered and in great working condition. This exam table has been used and cared for by a private medical practice and is about 15 years of age. The table has adjustable-height head, foot, and stirrup sections. It features plenty of under-the-table cabinet storage with two shelves. Shows some normal signs of wear however it is in overall good cosmetic condition and works great mechanically.
