GYN Surgery--uterine dilator
This is a uterine dilator which was used to stretch the opening in the uterine cervix. At the time of use(around 1900) it was thought that a small opening could contribute to infertility. Therefore this was inserted and opened with a thumb screw to the desired diameter. Apparently it his not done for this purpose anymore. The instrument is about 12 inches long. The finish is in good shape though not perfect. The screw mechanism works smoothly. I will insure for purchase price and generally ship within 24 hours of payment. I will accept returns if they involve disputed description.

This is an usual 3 bladed vaginal speculum. It has only the capacity to open the jaws and does not have an adjustable opening. This implies a diagnostic piece. The larger blade is roughly 1 1/8 inches by 4 1/4 inches. The smaller blades are 3 1/2 by 1/2 inches. The plating is nickel and is in good shape though not perfect. The opening mechanism works well. This is a bivalve speculum which has an adjustable external opening as well as separating the jaws internally. It has a fenestration in the back jaw. Another unusual feture is the side column upon which the mouth is enlarged(this is usually in the center. The back blade is about 4 1/2 by 1 3/4 inches and the front blade is about 4 by 1 3/4 inches. All adjustment features work properly. My best information is that this speculum is 100 plus years old. The mark is BETZ. On the outside of the back jaw is 3 plus what appears to be a small banner. GYN--3 therapeutic specula
This listing is for three therapeutic specula. Each has 2 adjustments. First there is an adjustment to spread the blades internally and second there is an adjustment to open the mouth of the speculum to allow access for minor surgical procedures. One of these is chrome plated and I believe the other two are nickel plated. I don't find a brand on any of these. The adjustments work smoothly and the metal is in good but not perfect shape.

GYN--2 Diagnostic specula
This listing is two diagnostic GYN specula-the adjustment only spreads the jaws internally without enlarging the external opening. Because of the way the adjustment works there is not enough exposure to do any sort of minor surgery. Thus it allowed for diagnosis only. The first speculum depicted is unusual in having the adjuster on the left side-most were on the right side. The other speculum is unusual in having the blades spread side to side as opposed to the usual top and bottom. The only mark on#1 is pat.pending. The mark on#2 is H.G.V.I.C.O. Both have some tarnish but no rust or pitting.

We also pulled out the stirrups, and they too slide in and out easily, and stay locked in place as well as adjusting angle properly.
