This is an old galvanized steel water can with pour spout. You used to see these at the local gas station. Usually out by the pumps to add water to radiators. This one is signed and embossed DOVER. It is in good used condition. No dents, cracks, holes or other damage. It holds water without leaking. This old water can is intact. Nothing broken or repaired. It has the original handle, straight and securely attached. The wood handle is in good shape, retaining most of the original paint, no cracks or chips. The poor spout is intact with no damage. No dents in the side of the can. The bottom of the can is in great shape, no rust or holes. The seams and lips are all in great shape. The back handle is intact and secure. These cans never had a sprinkler head on them, instead they featured metal tabs to stop the can from going too far into the radiator. at one time this item would have had advertising on the sides- Mobil, Shell, Texaco or the like. This can is unique in that most of the cans you see are oblong or oval shaped whereas this can is a nice plump round one. I got a few hours of work in this one. But I think it turned out nicely. I did remove all the old galvanize off the outside of the can, even in between all the little letters, sanded it down good and painted it. It does have a couple of dings in it and I left them. I think it shows the vintage part of the can. I think it would make a nice display piece or a really cool flower watering can. Metal is in fairly good condition with only one small hole/slit on top. But not other cracks or holes. Top rim has one section where it is pushed in slightly, and bottom rim also has a few pushed in spots. Bottom is solid. Top also has a dent to it. Wooden carry handle is in good condition with no cracks. Spout is intact. End of spout is bent in around it. Pouring handle is fully intact with no cracks. Inside can is dirty from oil/coolant and has residue in it. It needs a good cleaning out. Overall, can is in fairly good condition and would make a great addition to your collection.
