Description Antique Victorian carved coquilla nut needle case. Which has acorn finials to each end and unscrews to one end to allow needles to be stored. An almost identical example of this type of needle case can be seen in Nerylla Taunton's book Antique Needlework Tools and Embroideries. On page 163(plate no 177) AGE The case dates to the middle of the 19th century. Circa 1870. SIZE The case measure 7.5cm(3" long and 2cm(¾" in diameter. CONDITION The case is in good condition for considerable age. Although there is a fine crack to the lid and several tiny nibble chips to the edges. This is a nice pair of nut crackers. They appear to be cast iron. And are mounted on a piece of wood. The base is 7 1/2" long and about 2 1/4" wide. It is 6 1/8" tall at the highest point. 18th C NUREMBERG Silver Small Nut Wine BOWL Fine REPOUSSE 27g 2 Marks VERY RARE
Museum Quality. Stunning. Highest Craftsmanship. Rare. Perfect. The photos show the charming little bowl that is up for auction. I believe it is a nut bowl or relish side bowl of some sort. Maybe a wine taster. It is small in size. 2 3/4" across top x 3/4" deep, but the artist spared no detail. It is a fine example of the repousse technique to detailing. There is a cluster of several fruits in the center of the base. And four smaller fruit clusters surrounding the inside symmetrically, each different from the next. In between these four clusters there is four ribs running vertically. This adds to the ripple or fluted affect around the top rim of bowl. Also present is very fine texture added by artist. To allow for various shading. The bowl is in as-found condition. It could be polished. But it's not necessary. This piece has ... moresuch nice contrast and depth as it is. Condition=amazing. There are no dings. Not even tiny. No thing to mention. The re is no sil ver mark on this piece that I can find. But I'm sure it is 800 silver content/ European silver. The last photo shows a close-up of the Nuremberg Silver hallmark. Which is an"N" inside of a round impression, as well as"13" inside of a round impression. On the bottom it is marked REED& BARTON STERLING X569 FRANCIS I. It measure 3 1/2" wide at the top and approximately 1 inch across at the base. This beautiful nut or salt dish comes to you from a smoke free environment and has no dents or dings. Although I am unfamiliar with silver.
