But fully functional Welcome to Simpler Times Antiques! Those of us who regularly attend estate sales and auctions are well acquainted with the rule of unintended purchases. When your humble eBay seller purchased a lovely lot of vintage collector plates at such an event recently. The idea never occurred that the result would be a lot of twenty wire plate hangers stuck in a box beside the computer. Well, here they are! The plates are all sold and this is what remains. These are from the home of a lovely little lady in Chesapeake, VA who for the past 20 years or so has decorated her home with the most astounding collection of owls you ever wanted to see. They mounted a vast assortment ... moreof owl motif collector plates to her walls for years. Most of the plates were in the 8" to 9" diameter size range, so these hangers should all work just fine with plates of similar sizes. None that we noted were marked with maker's name. Origin of manufacture, or any other identifiable insignia. A couple have springs that are stretched a bit, but all seem to be in good usable condition. Most were likely gold tone finish originally, but years of exposure to air, dust, and household pollutants have left them dulled and tarnished. Appearance, however, should be of little consequence as they'll be well hidden behind the plates they hold when in use. They'll be a useful and practical bargain to the collector or shop owner that needs a large lot, so don't overpay for new when these will surely do the trick more economically! A very clean set of Aviator Sun Glasses possibly American Optical Brand no marks on the glasses at all. The are well made and have all the signs of age and construction like glasses from the WWII period I am guessing with some certainty that they are early 1940's war time period.
