Selmer Handmade Sterling Flute Gold Springs Haynes Quality Lovely Vintage
This lovely flute was made in Selmer's hay-day when they produced exceptional quality instruments(in both Elkhart and Boston locations) This flute is an identical model to the one that sold last month. This model flute features all sterling construction of both the tubes and keys with gold springs which is entirely original to the instrument and in excellent condition! The original cork and crown assembly was broken into two pieces and unusable so a new Gemeinhardt silver plated crown was installed instead. This flute plays very easily down to low C and features the old-school robust sound that these flutes were loved for! The pads on this instrument are older but function properly and seal very well. I would be willing to fully replace all of the pads with new pads at an additional fee. In any of the current pads rub me the wrong way ... moreprior to packing the flute up I will replace it/them free of cost. All of the joints were fitted so there is no wobble and the flute was fully disassembled. Cleaned, keys oiled, and all of the metal was polished. There are a few evident scratches here and there(one noticeable longer one on the foot) which I would be willing to polish out if the winning bidder requests it(free of charge) Unbeknownst to the other handmade Selmer seller, the toneholes on these old models are drawn and not rolled(NOT soldered) and would be most similar to the old Haynes Commercial models with identical toneholes(George Haynes flutes were like this also"back in the day" The flute's overall condition I'd rate as an 8.5/10 with the minor scratches being the only imperfections. The case, unfortunately, has some sort of sticky substance on it(inside the cover) and can be used as a 45-90-degree angle case or if you can figure out how to get the stuff off can be unsticky(or cover it with something) I wanted to keep the original case and cover and have tried Goo-Gone on it with no success, unfortunately. The R.A. S. Co. was located west of Lexington. Virgina, In Rockbridge County. The resort open in the 1830's. By the 1850's a grand hotel had been constructed along with KENTUCKY Row& Baltimore Row. During the Civil War the resort was used as a hospital. The springs closed up in the 1910's. Detailed history of the resort can be found in"Historic Springs of the Virginias" by Stan Cohen. I recently purchased this great Virginia ephemera key tag from the Powell estate of Goshen. Va. The late Mr. Powell was a avid collector of Rockbridge& Jordan Springs items. Mr. Powell had numerous Spring bottles but only one key tag which is offered here.

In the Ozark Mountains by the Frisco Railroad. The rich and famous came to Eureka Springs, Arkansas for it's healthy springs. Later in it's history it became a Cancer Hospital and with the healing waters being the draw. It was returned to it's original purpose of an upscale hotel and is still open today serving tourists a nice treat of luxury in the Ozarks. It is known worldwide now more for it's ghosts though.
