Vintage lot of Leather and Upholstery Punches and Tools and accessories
I picked these up from the estate of an old upholstery maker. The lot includes all of the tools and all of the caps. Tacks and everything else you see in the pictures. The boxes for the tacks and caps are pretty old, so I will have to tape them and put them in another container for you. I tried to take close-ups of the tools so you can see the different manufacturers and the different tools- I believe these are mid 20th century tools. Included are taps and tools from United-Carr. Stimpson of Brooklyn, NY, CARR Fasteners, looks like CS& Co as well. The Tools are from Utica Tools 375 Pliers- marked custom made, Hammer from Vaughan, Laco Wrench, Spring Loaded tool marked NO 21- 4 and others I either cant make out the mark or they just have numbers. The tacks look to be all from Cross and are old- some boxes are full some about half-full. ... moreThere are black metal caps about 3/4 full. Grommets, and some stuff I don't know what they are! Only the one with the handle is a CS Osborne& Co. there are no markings that I could find on the other one but they seem to be for the same purpose. The tip on one of them is cracked(See picture No 5) but the other one is in mint condition it is just missing a handle, they weight less then a pound combined. Head is curved and is flat at each end. There is a brand etched in it. But I can only read the end of it-RSTON Smaller hammer is 8 3/4" long. 4" wide. Head is flat at one end and pointed at the other. The handles have tape on them. But don't seem to be split or in bad condition. Don't see the reason for the tape. Handle and heads have some paint splatter. Both hammers have tack removal tool at the end. As you read this description. Please understand that these tools are outside my realm of knowledge. These were from one of his tool boxes. When we opened the box we were hard pressed to find any tool newer than the 1960s. In fact many items from receipts to pennies were of that era. There is an Osborne Upholstery pliers There is an Osborne hammer. There are two different types of stitchers. There is an unusual, small leather knife. There are a couple of other leather tools, I am not sure of their function. One is all wood. I think they are creasers. All the tools are in good condition. The skifes seem to be unused. Osborne fabric pulling tool. Blackhawk pt 1178 pliers. Please see photos. Note tape on brass hammer handle. It doesn't feel broken. We wiggled it and felt no movement- comfort or protection for item being worked on? We could be wrong. And it may be broken. The Blackhawk tool- pliers- may not be designed for upholstery. But would work well with serrated teeth and narrow face. Fabric puller opens and closes easily. And has a tight alignment. Note nail ... moreremover on end of handle. The hinged items could use some WD-40. But do open and close- they are not seized. Please look closely. And ask questions if we missed anything.
