Rare vintage 1930's Packard Bell Phonocord microphone deco old used Universal
Hello. You are looking at one of the rarest and most unique microphones to come around Ebay(generally only 3 to 4 times a year) A vintage late 30's/ 1940's Packard Bell Phonocord microphone which is a variant of the Universal microphone manufactured in Inglewood. California. I've tried hard to find info on these microphones as I've only come across 4 myself in the past few years. I've googled. Yahoo'd you name it. Very hard to get info on these microphones due to the rarity of them. I'll start by saying that the cosmetic condition of this microphone is quite fantastic considering it's age. Generally these satin chrome plated mics suffer from severe pitting due to environmental conditions and lack of care. This mic has defied the odds. It has just a couple of small nicks on the top of the head as seen in pic# ... more9. Otherwise it's quite beautiful and free of unwanted physical damage. A very conservative 8 + on a scale of 1- 10. I have yet to find a Phonocord that works and this is no different. Tested but no signal. Not to say that it can't be altered to work as every microphone can be fixed. The black silk screen is hard to see in the pictures provided but it is flawless with zero damage. The joint mechanism is firm but slides smoothly as needed. The 3 pin attachment is perfect and the threads are just as nice. This microphone screams deco and has that War Of The Worlds vibe to it. I have one of these myself and bar none.one of my favorite microphones. If you are looking for the ultimate conversation piece/ collectable microphone.look no farther. Went through the set up and it appeared to be working. After about five minutes the VCR shut itself off, I got a no signal display on my tv, but it appeared the DVD recorder was still running. I could not access any menu to tell the recorder to stop. I have done thus twice with the same result. Missing is the coax cable to connect your cable box.
