This is page 124 of a 1960s era Russia postage stamp album. These are 8 cancelled stamps from these 1951 CCCP USSR postage stamp issues. They are apparently among Gibbons catalogue#s 1725- 1752. The first 4 stamps laud Soviet aviation. With glider born, parachute dropped and flight training troops, along with Soviet Young Pioneer scale model glider hobbyists. One of them appears to be the less valuable first printing, and three of them appear to be the more valuable second editions. The next 2 glorify the 25th anniversary of the Lenin Volkhovsky Hydroelectric plant. There is a quote by Lenin that translates to: Just as Communism powers the People. Electricity powers the Nation. The last 2 illustrate Soviet Winter Sports. Not all the stamps that there are places for on the page are present. Only the 8 shown in the close up photos are here. ... moreThe asking price is much less than the total of the prices of each stamp as shown in the 6th edition 2008 Stanley Gibbons catalogue as Scotts says they should be much less. The stamps appear to be genuine. They were purchased over two to three decades from several stamp stores and dealers in Alaska. I originally thought these were purchased in Southern California. But found out I was mistaken. I am NOT a philatelist. But I have consulted with a stamp expert on describing stamps accurately and how to use the price catalogs. If you wish, I can translate any particular stamp you are interested in. Most just say"Postage Stamp" and the denomination, but the commemorative or special purpose stamps will have other inscriptions. I am selling a VERY large stamp album of Russian stamps for a friend, page by page. He wants to sell them like this, and is not interested in selling the whole album at once, so please don't ask. The value of most of the stamps are mostly, to me, too small to justify the time to list them separately. If I come across any higher value stamps, I may sell them separately. Rare Vintage Aircraft Brochure Navarro Chief Tri-Engined Monoplane 1931 Aviation
The original and very rare pamphlet that we have for sale here is not dated but would date to circa 1931. It is for The Navarro Chief Tri- Engined Monoplane J.G.N. Type 34. It was built by Navarro Safety Aircraft Ltd. At Heston Air Park, Middlesex, just outside London. It is rare because we do not believe that the aircraft was ever registered and we would be surprised if any other pamphlets like this(for prospective buyers) exist. Surely this is a rare survivor! Although never registered, the prototype did apparently fly once, it was under powered and from a safety point of view, it was probably a good thing that it never flew again! Two reports on the aircraft in' Flight' magazine dated Nov.21st 1930 and 6th Mar.1931 describe the innovative machine but they were not so certain about its' safety' features. It had just been ... morecompleted at Heston when the latter' Flight' report was printed. A Tri-Motor with one engine in the nose of the fuselage and the other two slung outboard under the wing, it had a wooden fuselage covered with plywood. Advertised as a mini- airliner, it carried the pilot plus two passengers all one behind the other in line and was offered as an Air Coupe or Saloon. If used for freight only it was to be called an Air Tramp. Floats could also be fitted. This high wing aeroplane had three ABC Scorpion engines(All British Engine Company of London) each producing 35-37 HP. The power of the Navarro Chief shown in the specifications in the pamphlet is 111HP although the make of engine is not identified. Folding wings ensured that it could easily be' garaged' and the safety features of Mr Navarro's invention were upturned wing tips and elevators whose hinge line was not at right angles to the line of flight which would eliminate the most common cause of accidents- Spinning and Stalling' J.G. Navarro had a long history of design experience, having worked before WW1 with the British Breguet firm and the Brush Electric Company at Loughborough who at the time were buil

These came from the Ace Drummond comic strip, Hall of Fame of the Air, drawn by Clayton Knight and written by Eddie Rickenbacker, published through King Features Syndicate, Inc. Each issue featured a particular plane, medal, aviator etc in the corner. This collection is those features over the years. Dimensions on these are around 4.5 x 7. Condition of these is good to very good with various issues, see scans. Some additional info on the strips below. Ace Drummond was an aviation comic strip scripted by Eddie Rickenbacker. The celebrated World War I aviator, and illustrated by Clayton Knight(1891–1969) well-known aviation author and artist, who was the father of illustrator Hilary Knight. In its five-year ... morerun, it followed aviator Ace Drummond on his adventures around the world. Distributed by King Features Syndicate. The comic strip ran as a Sunday page from 1935 to 1940. According to Rickenbacker's autobiography, at its peak, the strip ran in 135 newspapers. In 1936. The strip was adapted into a movie serial. Rickenbacker was a key factor in the promotion of this strip through the formation of Eddie Rickenbacker's Junior Pilots Club, displaying the Ace Drummond characters on buttons distributed to listeners. Between 1935 and 1940. Knight and Rickenbacker also did another King Features comic strip, The Hall of Fame of the Air, depicting airplanes and air battles in a fact-based series about famous and little-known aviators.
