I didnt hear it actually put out sound.As I didnt have it hooked up to a receiver. It did seem to play the record and just not slide across it. The cover has a crack in it. I purchased a couple of these'powerhouse' units back in July 1963 from"Herbach& Rademan" a surplus outfit out of Philadelphia. This particular unit is a"Model 11501 Linear Actuator" manufactured by Foote Bros. Gear& Machine Co. Aircraft Devices Division(Chicago) an active World-War II Manufacturing company. It was manufactured in 1942 and was used as a flap actuator on B-17 Bombers. Photos#1- 2- 3 show general physical size of the unit which weighs approx. 8# The outlined area in the 3rd photo shows a Torrington Ball-Bearing interface in the end of the push-rod which provides minimal friction between actuator and any attached lever arm. The other is- 3 5/8" tall x 1 7/16" square at the base. Both have 13 shaker holes in the top. Condition- Excellent. I feel no chips and see no cracks. No cork stoppers in the bottom. Minor age wear on edges and around shaker holes. Mark- in a cirle- Handpainted. W, Pickard, A, China. Stamped in green over the circle is- BAVARIA. PLEASE NOTE- All dishes probably were used. So may have fine usage marks. Some may have minor straw marks. Bubbles or manufacturer flaws.
