Vintage 1940s Green Steel Adjustable Louvered Vent for Double Hung Window
This is a Vintage Green Steel and Wood Framed Adjustable Louvered Vent/ Screen for a Double Hung Window. The information I received is that this piece is circa 1940s. And that looks about right to me as well. This seems to be a pretty unique, decorative, and utilitarian piece. I may have missed something but I was not able to find another like it on ebay. I would be especially great for use in a rustic vacation, fishing, or hunting cabin, adding a great vintage touch to the room. To use the vent. Simply slide the two sides to the width of your double hung window, raise the sash, and set it down on the vent frame to help ventilate the room. The vent adjusts horizontally to fit from about 21 1/4" to 36 1/2" wide. The height is 10 5/16" The total overall depth including the wood and the two metal panels where they overlap is about ... more1" and about 5/8" where they do not overlap including the wood frame, and each metal panel alone is about 1/4" deep. For US Buyers. Two USPS Priority Mail shipping options are offered. Please be sure to select the one that shows the lowest cost to your zipcode. Condition The panel is in sound structural condition. There is a little resistance when opening and closing but I think a little light household oil. Tefflon spray lubricant, or other lubrication method should improve the operation significantly. Overall the piece is in fairly nice condition for its age but it does have a number of conditon issues. The issues I noted are: A fairly minor splotch of white paint the slightly wraps onto the edge as well. This is clearly seen in one or more photos. A triangular corner broken off the wood frame at one corner. And a long but minor crack a ways below that, the extent of each marked with purple arrows on a closeup photo The paint. Originally glossy, shows some weather and wear. You can evaluate this in one or more closeup photos. There are a few quite minor spots of rust coming through the paint as well. Hi and welcome to my auction. For your bidding consideration is an antique/ vintage used Victorian era cast iron round louvered register. Grate or vent. The grate measures approximately 9-3/8” across the top and 7-5/8” across the louvered bottom. This has no maker's mark on it except for the number 8 cast on various parts. Based upon this and some calculations, I figure this would fit in a hole between 8" and 8-1/8" in diameter. The ornate top has the remnants of a black painted surface. Condition is very good, there are no cracks, repairs or noticed damage. Picture number 12 shows a close-up of what I consider to be a manufacturing process line- it appears to be a solid, horizontal seam BUT NOTHING MORE. The louvers work fine, moving back-and-forth with just the use of my pinkie finger. This could use some additional surface ... morepreparation before applying a fresh coat of paint. Up for sale is an original antique ornate round cast iron heat louvered register floor grate vent stamped"W.G. Creamer NY. Pat. Sep. 14, 1869" on the bottom of one of the louvers. This antique heating floor grate was recently removed from an 1880's central New Hampshire farmhouse. It has some thickly layered gray paint on the top. It measures 9.5" in diameter and sits about 2.25" high. There are three louvers and easily adjust(it looks like a small piece from the handle mechanism may have broken off and the adjustment handle is stuck in place from all the layers of paint) It is in as found condition with areas of rust, paint chipping, discoloration and other age related wear. Antique Art Deco 1907 Metal Grate Grille Heat Vent Register Louvered Cover
Hello your is a great metal air vent cover for your consideration. Overall the vent measures 11 1/2 inches wide by nine and three-quarter inches tall from the front. The inside opening of the vent is approximately 9 1/2 inches wide by seven and three-quarter inches tall. It does pivot it so the vent can be open or closed to control airflow. It appears to have the original black paint and does have scratches and surface rust starting as seen in the photographs. The back also has a spot of paint is seen in the photographs as well. The metal flap that opens and closes does have slight bends from use. But should not affect the function of the vent. The backside of the vent is marked and has a patent date of September 18, 1900 and it looks like July 25 of 1907. Antique Vintage Cast Iron Heat Register Vent Cover Louvered Grate (c)
Wall heat grate cast iron. Nice antique condition. Needs cleaned. I did use a little oil to make sure the louver opens and closed. It works fine. Overall measurements 12 3/8" x 12" x 1" deep tapering to 3/4" deep at top. Fits in a 10" x 10" opening with about a 1" clearance if the opening is slightly larger. Vtg Antique LOUVERED HEAT COLD AIR RETURN VENT REGISTER Heavyweight Metal GRATE Description Vintage/antique LOUVERED HEAT/COLD AIR RETURN VENT REGISTER. Heavy weight metal with a 1" square face pattern. No breaks or cracks anywhere. A rocker-arm thumb knob easily moves the louvers open/closed. Surface rust only. Very solid. Face plate is 11.75" x 9.75" x 1.75" deep. The vent has a.75" cover border all around the outside to cover the rough opening. Please enlarge all pictures to see the condition and details the best. I will combine shipping on multiple items. When possible, to save on shipping costs.
